I have a problem... a nieghbor won't stop smoking in a non-smoking area and repeatedly douses his stinky butts and leaves them. I'd love to involve the authorities but of course there is no PENAL code for simply littering a butt... there are only stipulations and statutes about littering butts out the window of your car. I for one think cigarette smoking should be banned EVERYWHERE outside. simply EVERYWHERE and common 500 to 2500 dollar fines should be attached to the specific act of littering a cigarette butt. I have no arguement however because it is seemingly NOT illegal to litter a cig butt. |

The lit but flew into my driver side window, went down the back of my shirt and burned my back. I couldn't do anything about it being there other than ramming back into it to smear it out with my skin. I burned my back, a hole through my shirt and a hole into my driver's seat. It's not harmless. It hurt like hell and I have the scar to prove it. |

My dad showed me how to field strip a non-filter cigarette to avoid being tracked by enemy trackers. He learned in the First World War. You just find the seam where the paper is glued together and pull it down the length of the cigarette and blow the remaining unburnt tobacco to the wind; after all it is only leaf. I am a filter smoker and I have adapted this technique so that I now roll the cigarette in my fingers and disperse the tobacco to the winds. The remaining filter and remaining paper goes into my pocket untill I get home where the butt goes into the home fire. Easy Peasy. |

Jack is right though, unless i am blowing smoke in your kids face or flicking butts in YOUR yard then mind you #@$damn business. These people who make a big deal about smokers are probably those same people who drive like a@@holes or drink too much or eat fast food everyday. Hey thats putting people and themselves at risk. Too many politics in this world why can't it be like it used to be? People were carefree and enjoyed life. Now everything is an issue. |

Anyone who believes that they do, I ask you this...have you ever TRIED to start a fire with a cigarette? I have (controlled of course), and I have never been able to do it. Dry grass, dry leaves, in a low humidity, high wind environment, I cannot get a fire to start. Even holding the cherry up to these dead fuels and blowing as hard as I can, I cannot get a flame to start. I don't care what other people say, I want to know if YOU have ever been able to get a flame started with a cigarette (gunpowder and gasoline aside). |
