I don't think i've ever actually seen an Ampeg available in Australia though, that could be it... If you know of anywhere that sells 'em Down Under, please tell. Cheers, Nic. |
| Posted By: RockinRory Cubel Posted On: Oct 24, 2002 Views: 1213 | Sunn Amps Ruled..... In the late 60's two dudes in a garage began the legend of Sunn bass amplifiers. Today, Fender has bought the rights to Sunn and is producing them according to original 60's specs. Hurrah for Fender!!! I used the first model of Sunn bass amp and bottom in the late 60's.(See myfirstband.com /Society of Sound/Indiana ) I used two basses then- a Gibson EBO and a Conrad hollow body violin - shaped bass ( I have a later -1974 model today- what a gorgeous and long necked bass (25 inches, and total body length= 45 inches) Anyway, the Sunn amp I had (can't remember model number today) had plenty of kick w/ two 15 inch cabinet speakers and a 100 watt head to be heard at street corner dances and auditorium gigs. I had to place the cabinet upside down (coasters up) so it wouldn't walk away. The tubes never failed me in two years of constant practice and gig usage and the speakers never blew. I would recommend any used Sunn amp for use, and if you can afford it..the new/ original spec amps by Fender. Hey! Rock on!!!!! |
