Someone told me that the Red Barron is being taken over by new people. Wonder what kind of changes they plan on making? It might be nice to have a new place for bands in town to play. You got any idea who it might be? Email me if you do. I also heard that Darby is trying to put together another band, since he does not seem to be getting any gigs in P'cola I heard he was hittin' the road. I guess all the good ones are having to leave town because of the apparent monopoly and clicks. It would be nice if there were somewhere you could go hear all the oldies but goodies again. There sure are a lot of good musicians in town that I would love to see again given the chance. Unfortionatly KAREOKE (spelling?) tends to take over and bar owners opt for the cheep entertainment. You know how those drunks like to get up and think they can sing. Hope to hear from you soon |

Shanaynay you know that I don't reply very often, I usually send you an e-mail or call you. On that note don't take that second post seriously. Someone is pretending to be me. There is one and only one me. I did hear something about the Baron and I hope it is true. I hope the rumor about Darby is true. It is a shame that the best musicians in this town have to play out of town in order to play at all. What has happend to the Pensacola bar owners? I will not go into a bar if it is "Sing along" to a CD night. I would much rather pay a cover charge and hear a real band with real singers. My heart goes out to all you musicians in the Pensacola area who are getting the shaft due to cheep bar owners. |

Darby is booked with a new band at Flounders 8 times this summer, Southern Breeze is at Floundere this weekend from 10 till 2 so come on out. Red Baron is not changing bands right now, although, they are not making any money, they may go to planting trees on the stage pretty soon LOL! Ronny and Southern Breeze is at Chasers on Friday and Saturday starting next week come on out! Darby is also playing at Characters and Papa Roccos in Perdido Key once in a while and watch for a new song written by Darby and Miller coming up soon !! And now you know the rest of the story Good Day!!! : ) |

I have not seen this Darby person perform but it seems everywhere I go I see his name up on signs and advertised in the paper, so I guess he must be pretty good. Maybe I will go with my friends to Flounders this weekend to see that Ronnie Miller group and then later to hear Darby's band. Thanks for letting us know where they are playing. |

I don't think anything I said was mean. In fact, I think I was saying nice things about the musicians in town. I only commented in a negative way about how cheep bar owners are. The imitation shaquita is in for some shock therapy of my own. I don't like to be attacked like that for no reason. On a happier note...Ronnie Miller, Chasers needs a good band like you and I do hope you can put up with George. George tends to think he is the band manager. His usual move is wanting a female singer added, and it's some girl he knows. Wish you all the best!!! Your a great preformer. He just needs to stay out of the bands business and just let them play. I look forward to coming and seeing you play. I was just wondering is he rotating bands or is it that you have previous commitments? It seems like every week when I ride by there his sign is always changing about who is playing. |

I say that because, if you were a true musician then you would feel the same way every other true musician in this town feels. When you have to leave town to get a gig, that is down right sad. You have musicians that have been playing in this town for years, well know musicians, and now they are being forced out by "wanna be singers" who can't sing their way out of a wet paper bag. But everyone is entitled to his own opinion and I do respect that. Shanaynay I did not see anything wrong with what you said. For once you were posting positive things about the local music scene. But I guess some people can't see that do to the blinders they wear. |

And you are right Shananay, it is hard for us pickers to get decent wages in this town and I appreciate you and everybody else who goes out of their way to come see a local act. So ya'll come out to see Ronnie's band this weekend at Flounders on Pensacola Beach and I will be out there with a band April 16-17. Hope to see ya'll there!!!! |
