Mac OS X / XFree

I see a lot of comments here suggesting writing Trillian for Linux so it would be easily portable to Darwin/XFree and run on OS X. This would -work-, yes, but it would turn out horribly.

Most computers running OS X do NOT have X-Windows installed on them. I do have XDarwin installed on my Mac, and so I can run X-Windows programs alongside native OS X programs, but I try to avoid it.

OS X's Aqua interface is much smoother and visually appealing than nearly all X window managers (even ones that look good still look out-of-place due to the contrast in window styles). It'll be harder to write something using native OS X interface code, but the benefits will make it worth it.

Trillian looks amazing, and my friends that use it on Windows love it, but if it required XDarwin to run, I'd stick with AOL'S AIM client (much as I dislike it, it's more functional than Fire).
