RE: Windows First

DUH!!...

It doesn't matter if MSN runs under windows or not. Any software can run anywhere as long as it is coded to communicate properly with it. The platform itself is irrelevant. The suggestion of making it on windows first (where it already is anyway) is a HUGE indication of HUGE computing IGNORANCE and where HUGE computing IGNORANCE exists, one should hold back from making such HUGE IGNORANT suggestions.

RE: Windows First

I'd first like to issue an apology about my previous statement. Still drinking my first cup of coffee.

The whole IDEA however about making the program available to other platforms is so that those who do not wish to use Microsoft software do not have to. I myself, although liking the features the MS offers, dislike the way they go about doing things and so will support them is a little a way as possible. Therefore, 3 out of my 5 computers run Linux as the primary OS. This however does not prevent others such as Trillian from creating a program that can connect to MSN, AIM, Yahoo!,ICQ, and others using their own code. It is a simple socket connection that passes information from one computer to another, a recognized standard using TCP/IP which is a supported standard by all major OS's. Because of this, it is irrelevant of which platform you make the program to work on since the actual communication works the same way. Having different types of OS's would be futile if such were not the case.
