I would advise that you do a Java port before anything else, simply because this would allow it to run on pretty much all of the platforms you specify. The Unix world already seems to have a few products that already do what Trillian does; Everybuddy and gAim come to mind.

I think that a closed source application such as this would have more luck on the small devices platform than competing against open source ones on the unix platforms. And since most small devices are starting to have Java support via the KVM and such, it would make sense to get a Java codebase. Then you can move it to whatever platform you feel with little tweaking, including Linux, BSD, and OSX.

Of course you might want to just stick to Windows and try to make the best damn Windows messenger available instead of worrying about a port.
