Posted By: Kryptonick Posted On: Dec 3, 2001 Views: 351 | RE: BeOS Port Please? Yep, I tried BeOS 5 and it is great. I prefer it to Linux ! It's rock stable, fast and user friendly, but... well... where is the software ? It sadly lacks support :( |
Posted By: ChozSun Posted On: Dec 3, 2001 Views: 347 | RE: BeOS Port Please? BeOS is absolutely powerful. They should open-sourced the code. That would continue the development of BeOS. I think someone has with OpenBe. |
Posted By: DaxAra Posted On: Dec 4, 2001 Views: 327 | BeOS I agree, i run it next to Windows & Linux. however.... the reason they stoped making new versions of the os is becouse other company's didn't suported it...... I Can't even get my (not to) old STANDARD modem working on it.... Under Linux and Windows, i Can do Anything... |
Posted By: quido Posted On: Dec 5, 2001 Views: 309 | RE: BeOS Port Please? It's a two way situation. Right after Be Inc. announced that they would focus on beia (or something like that) and dropped development for BeOS, a lot of companies stopped supporting and developing for Beos, the result is a lack of software. Therefore this OS is dead or will be in the near future. I must say, I liked it very much, indeed a stable & fast system with an awesome windows manager, but no great apps. About games I couldn't care less. Too bad it didn't survive |
