RE: working on actions of all cowboy guns

First:
Try the Brownell's catalog and web site for books on the subject.
Second:
Check the local City Colleges for classes on gun smithing.
Third:
Check the American Rifleman and other gun mags for schools on gunsmithing and hints and kinks type books. Check their web site also.

A good thing to start with, would be to change the stock springs in your Ruger's with a "Lee Gunsmithing" or "Bunkhouse" spring kit. That's easy to do and makes a big difference. Both are referenced on this web site, the Cowboy Chronicle, and the Dillon web site.

That should start you in the right direction.

RE: working on actions of all cowboy guns

I just bought the book "Gunsmithing Guns of the Old West" it has info on pistols, rifles, and shotguns. This book is targeted toward the cowboy action shooter and is a very good reference. I bought mine at Hastings but Amazon and Barnes and Knoble have it also.

Gunsmithing Guns of the Old West by David Chicoine is a good book.
