| Posted By: Dianna Posted On: Feb 4, 2002 Views: 379 | Halfway Tree Ever since I bought this CD, I can't stop playing it... Although I don't know Damian personally I think he's a very articulate man. I feel sorry for him, because a lot of critics are not giving him a chance. They're to busy comparing his music to his father's and his brothers. If the critics actually listen to his CD, not just with their ears but with their minds also, they will be able to grasp the concepts in the songs... Don't be so quick to judge, like the scripture says, judge not, that ye not be judge...If someone wishes to critize another, make sure it's consructive criticism. one love |

One does not have to do a minor in english to rate an album. As far as I see the person who wrote this either has a problem with listining or just has a dogmatic mind. As a 19 year old Jamaican who is currently doing a double major abroad I can justifiably say i have had enough experience under my belt to say that Half way tree is a really fantastic album. It shows diversity and style to incorporate artists from a different school of music. For a youth his age he has great intellect, insight and a brilliant style. Try and divert your snide remarks and pessimestic comments to some other undeserving albums instead of attempting to blight good prospects. Dont get me wrong though Damian has a long way to go yet, just maybe you are those educated fools he sings about :(( |
| Posted By: Tamara Posted On: Mar 23, 2002 Views: 356 | RE: Halfway Tree I totally agree with the last two posts. I was genuinely disappointed when I read some of the reviews. Firstly I think the reviewer needs to realize that Damian is not his father and this is not the 70s. There are many influences that has shaped Damian's musical tastes and this influences how he sees himself create his reggae music. Maybe he is too over the hill to appreciate - not good music, but good music made with the younger generation in mind. Music much like hunger is a primal instinct and evokes raw emotions and Damian did an excellent job the lyrics were in place and the music was well chosen and sculpted. I am not saying he is his father incarnate and neither do I want him to be - I just want him to have a fair chance and keep on improving and make music I want to hear. |

| Posted By: Damiens new album?? Posted On: Jun 21, 2006 Views: 203 | RE: Halfway Tree His new album also falls short, nothing just the same old hip hop, fake rastaman (make more money, and act like my daddy)crap. None of the singing Marley brothers can be regarded as reggae/musical heavyweigths because they just make simple and very predicatble music. If they werent Bob Marleys kids they would not recieve so much credit, any fool can see that, unless your worse than a fool. That critics tackle them harder is also fair because their asking for it, when they constantly try to incorporate the Wailers music (read: WAILERS music, not just Bobs music). They lack talent and constantly use the comfort of what their father and others have worked their whole life to achieve. For those who want to know what original and trully cutting edge music right is.....MIDNITE |
