I've been blessed

I've read a bunch of information from people that say scoliosis has ruined their lives. And I don't want to argue that it definitely puts limits on us that we otherwise would not have. But I have to say from my own experience and watching others in many situations, it's all your attitude that prevails...your attitude going into life is what determines how good or bad you see it, and I've been blessed with a good outlook on life.
Just to let whoever reads this know some about me rather than make you guess, I suppose I should share some about myself. I found out I had scoliosis when I was 13, and had surgery about five months later, for curves of 55 and 60 degrees. I was out of school about a month, and wore a brace for three months every day. I would never have thought it before the time came, but when I was able to go without the brace I was kinda sad. It offered a level of protection, and it felt odd to be without it.
Forgive me, I digress. I went through all of high school with a line from the bottom of my neck to the top of my rear end, making it look like I have a crack higher than I should. That has really been my only place of concern. Other than that I enjoy telling my story, and when I had surgery again, much smaller this time, the summer after my junior year, I didn't even think much of it.
So, my point is, actually, that having scoliosis has given me a good story to tell, and makes me sensitive to other people's odd surgeries. People are usually intrigued and like to hear about my story, and it's helped me to be more outgoing, having a story that most people can't share.
If you've had scoliosis problems, don't be ashamed about it! I know it's easy to say, but I hope this can maybe encourage someone.
