I can honestly say that NO PSB album has caused me

Maybe I'm missing something but if I don't like an album (Disco 2, Elysium, Electric, Super etc), I don't listen to it.

Why would I have cognitive dissonance?

Sorry Wayne but I find this poll silly. Just my opinion though.

Everyone's entitled to his or her opinion. As Groucho Marx once said to the audience following a particularly lame joke, "They can't all be good. You've got to expect that once in a while." ;-)

Thanks!

RE: I can honestly say that NO PSB album has caused me

I don't think this poll is silly at all. The question resonates with me because it does apply to some PSB albums for me. And as an aside, the cognitive dissonance angle doesn't necessarily mean you don't like the album.

Release gets my vote for what I assume are obvious, and probably not uncommon, reasons. But Behaviour is a close runner-up. The first single was So Hard, which I loved immediately and sounded very much like what I expected from the band. Then when I first listened to the album, I was shocked at how little the rest of the album resembled So Hard. It took me quite a while to get on board with Behaviour and reconcile it with what my impression of PSB had been up to that point.

I struggled with this question as any cognitive dissonance I've had has been caused by the lead singles off albums. By the time the album came round I was fully expecting what the results were going to be.

For me Winner and Home & Dry were pretty big shocks but they did signal the mood of their respective parent albums very well.

RE: I can honestly say that NO PSB album has caused me

Mulling over this - the advantage (or not) of the poll lasting two weeks - can I change my vote from none of the above to Behaviour please?

My first PSB purchase was the remix 12" of Always On My Mind but that was just because I loved the In My House part, it never went any further. My next purchase was the remix 12" of So Hard (again for the remix, this time by the KLF). That led me into buying Behaviour because I thought anyone who would commission and approve such a drastic remix must be worth looking into. What I heard was totally not what I was expecting from a group I only knew from their chart singles.

Yes, I'll be sure to change your vote later this evening when I have a little more time.

Thanks!
