Other option

I’m not familiar enough with Erasure to answer this question. From what I do know of them I’d say that none of the PSB singles sound like them.

RE: Other option

That would have been my choice. I really haven't a clue, because I know 2 or 3 Erasure songs in all.

RE: Other option

That would have been my choice too. Why wasn't this an option Wayne?

RE: Other option

I imagine if that was an option then it would be the top answer by a huge margin. Either pick a song or don't answer at all

RE: Other option

But it would also be interesting to see the percentage of PSB fans with no interest in Erasure.

RE: Other option

I'd choose none of them if it were an option too. The only similarity I see is a duo with keyboards, end of. It's like comparing chalk and cheese. Vince has never progressed beyond the plinky plonky keyboards that characterised the first Depeche Mode album I'm afraid whereas Neil and Chris are National treasures.

RE: Other option

You're absolutely right -- I should have provided an "I'm not familiar enough with Erasure to answer this question" option. It simply didn't occur to me, probably because I've been a fan of Erasure myself almost as long as I've been a fan of the Pet Shop Boys -- though not nearly as big an Erasure fan, to be sure. My apologies.

RE: Other option

All you guys sum it up nothing compares to Neil and Chris they are designer and Erasure are just the rough cuts.
Pet Shop Boys are so polished so I never voted either and just added another topic in What Keeps Mankind Alive.
So why None was not an option I don't know Wayne certainly made a boo boo.

RE: Other option

I don't think not including a "None" option was a "boo boo" because doing so would defeat the purpose of the question, which asks which PSB single is "most like" Erasure. It's only logical that, no matter how very different PSB and Erasure are, *some* songs must be more like Erasure than others.

Consider this analogy: we have a triangle, an oval, a square, and an amorphous blob to choose from. My question is, "Which is most like a circle?" Although all of these shapes are different, most people would probably pick the oval as being the most like a circle. (Admittedly it's not a perfect analogy, but it's an analogy nonetheless.)

My mistake, I believe, was in failing to include an "I'm not sufficiently familiar" option for those who simply aren't familiar enough with Erasure to make a choice.

Thanks.

Wayne

RE: Other option

I bought the Erasure Pop! CD years ago, thinking I would like it, but I hated it, except for the Abba cover. So I have no opinion this week.

RE: Other option

Dont mind Erasure singles but I really don't like the albums.
Vince Clarke however is a fantastic keyboard player though.

However I really don't think they sound the same on any of the singles I only went for WEG as was the earliest and therefore more likely to have the 80 synth sounds which Erasure still use
