| Posted By: Andrea Posted On: Apr 7, 2002 Views: 419 | back pain I had a spinal fusion in 1993. They put 2 rods and 4 hooks in my back. About 3 years ago I started having pain aroound my top left hook. Now the pain has spread all over and all of the time. It's so bad now to where my hands and feet go numb and spasm. I can't even pick up my 4 year old or have a normal life. What is causing this? How can I stop the pain? What about taking them out? I haven't been to a ortho dr for about 5 years because I can't afford it. Please help me get my life back, I'm only 22 years old. Thank you |

I used to just rest, and wasn't very active due to pain. I have found light exercise, ie walking, riding a bike, swimming, hiking....very helpfull in developing strength in my back which i think took extra stress off of my spine and the rod. Also making sure that i am getting good nutrition for maximum bone and nerve health. I am 30 years old. in my twenties i had a lot of the same symptoms you ddescribed. It has gotten better. I hope the same for you. laura |
