Is this any way to conduct a poll?

The question on the main page was simply a 'Yes' or 'No' answer. I believe there were well-coordinated events involving James Earl Ray in the assassination, and that he actually fired the shot. But I do not for one moment think "he was just another lone crazy assassin," but an intelligent and well trained operative. The assassination and aftermath had the "fingerprints" of the American Intelligence Community all over it. All the disinformation surrounding this event, including the assertion that Ray was a bungling, petty thief, probably has the King family (and most of us) so disoriented they will never be able to discover the truth (an intelligence method as well; it is their job to be unknown before, during and after an operation, would we expect anything less out of intelligence trained personnel?).

The summary of the ‘Yes’ answers that appears after you cast your vote is wrong and misleading, at least in my case, and hopefully in the opinions of freethinking and open-minded Americans who may also run across this survey.

RE: Is this any way to conduct a poll?

Steve is right. I clicked on "No". Not, "No, he was a patsy for the CIA". The CIA didn't kill Dr. King, nor the FBI, nor any other government agency. I can't say who had him killed (I don't want to get sued), but his initials are Rev. J.J.

RE: Is this any way to conduct a poll?

Although I agree that the one question poll could have had more options, I still think it's a good poll. I found the results as interesting as depressing. Its depressing that even after all these years and all the available information on this matter and some people still think that Ray had something to do with the assassination other than being a Patsy. I would suggest to anyone who thinks that Ray killed King to investigate further, read the transcripts from the 90's suing Jowers and others, look into the similarities between this assassination, the Kennedys, Lenon...
A good and informative book about this subject that I would recomend reading is William F. Pepper's An Act of State: The execution of Martin Luther King. I find this one a good start because Pepper was Ray's lawyer for so many years and a friend of the Kings.

Come on . . . don't you guys have anything better to expend your brain cells on?? The similarity between King, the Kennedy's and Len[n]on . . . shell casings! That's about it!! And, oh yeah, they were all commited by disturbed losers who lived on the fringe who believe that society slighted them somehow . . . again, duh! The CIA is brilliant!! They've moved these guys into our schools!! Pluck 'em off before they affect our status quo..??!!

"Its depressing that even after all these years and all the available information on this matter and some people still think that Ray had something to do with the assassination other than being a Patsy"

Some people are shockingly dimwitted. Steve's whole point was that those who voted yes didn't say anything about Ray not being a patsy.

Also, "all the information" is largely mis- and dis- information spread by word of mouth. But repeating something doesn't make it true, no matter how inclined you are to believe it. Lots of people wanted MLK, JFK, RFK, etc. out of the way; in some cases I think lone nuts got to them before the institutional actors did. The same sort of thing is true of 9/11; the neocons certainly wanted an excuse to go into Iraq, but that doesn't mean they actually engineered the deaths of 3000 people on American soil.
