With that being said, people kill people regardless of their sexual preference. "They choose who they lay in bed with." Well yes, but they don't choose who they want to lay in bed with. That you mix the two makes you dishonest or dim. Being gay -- being sexually attracted to members of the same sex -- is not something one chooses, any more loving jazz rather than heavy metal is something one chooses. Of course a jazz lover who hates heavy metal could choose to listen to heavy metal all day long -- but what sort of choice is that, really? It's the sort of choice that many gays made for decades (or centuries) when they married women and pretended they were straight. As for Ms. Finnegan's comments connecting being gay with killing people, they are too moronic to merit a response. |

It's not a question of whether or not a person is born straight or gay. I like the analogy in the last post about music preference. However, if a person has a preference of liking or disliking a person becuase of skin color, was he or she born with this preference? Does that make it right? Does that make it wrong? The short answer is regardless of whether you believe yourself to be born a certain way, something has to set the standard of whether it is right or wrong. God has given us the ability to choose what sets this standard. If the Bible is the chosen standard, then whether you are born gay, a murderer, a theif, a child molester, or with any preference that is against the standard (the Word of God), you are wrong. If you choose something besides the bible to be your standard of right and wrong, then you become justified in your own eyes (or in light of the standard you choose), but still wrong by the standard of the Bible. In my personal opinion, you will have to give an answer to God in the end, so you can enjoy your preferences now and deal with God later (probably sooner than you think), or put your desires in check now, and live in harmony with God now and later. |
