Posted By: Paul Posted On: Jan 21, 2019 Views: 240 | RE: Six times If my maths is correct I think my total is 13. Only 2 tours I didn't see, Performance & Discovery. I racked up 3 visits to their Savoy residency and saw them do Potemkin at Trafalgar Square and at the Barbican. |
Posted By: Toaster in the Bath Posted On: Jan 22, 2019 Views: 224 | RE: Six times I've also seen them six times, the MCM...(whatever the Roman numerals for 1989 are) tour and the Performance tour - their imperial phase - and the Electric tour and at the ROH - what I refer to as their, er, neo-imperial phase. I also saw them at their first Glastonbury appearance, before the world had woken up to the fact that they were a world-class live act. This meant when they came on stage there were just a few hundred people(!) in the audience meaning I could get near the front. But in a way, my favourite show of theirs that I saw was in 1997 at London's Gay Pride, held that year on Clapham Common. It was free to see them! They rushed through high octane versions of Somewhere, It's a sin and Go West (Mings gone west version if memory serves) and then left the stage. Incredibly, there seems to be no video footage and only one photograph of this gig online! How times have changed! If anyone here knows of any other archives from that day I'd be very happy if they shared. |

Posted By: Toaster in the Bath Posted On: Jan 23, 2019 Views: 198 | RE: Six times Ugh, I thought I'd managed to exorcize my memories of that living room gig, or at least the televised version of it. A banking corporation of particularly dubious morality plastering their advertising in every available space in a way that Pet Shop Boys had railed about in 'Pet Shop Boys vs. America' being my most vivid memory. Wayne writes about it here: http://www.geowayne.com/newDesign/extras/strangebuttrue.htm#livingroom But to answer Robert Schulz's (presumably rhetorical) question: Lorraine Sands of Twickenham, U.K.. Wonder where she is now and if she ever reads geowayne.com ? |
