They are so tuff that I once threw one out the window of my friend's new Toyota Celica and darned if it didn't bounce back off the telephone pole I was aiming for and hit his car! I use stubbies for my homebrewing and they always generate comments. They just make so much sense; compact, strong, a standard size and on and on. One sad note: when we moved from Burnaby 2 years ago, I had to leave 100 dozen behind -- I couldn't even find any body to give them to. Great Website idea! |

| Posted By: BeerFart Posted On: Aug 4, 2004 Views: 142 | RE: stubbies We used to drink Molson and Molson Golden from stubbies in the very early 80s and I cant say that it is because of the switch to longnecks, but somehow, the taste seemed to change. I still long for that unique taste that Molson Golden had in the early 80s and the only reason I buy it today is for a glimmer of hope that one six pack might taste like it once did. These Molson beers opened my eyes to the world of fine lagers that I'd yet to tap into decades before the import and micro-brew craze of today. Too bad I cant have the beer that started it all for me. Did Molson alter recipe or bottler or could it be that the very shape of the bottle is restricting the real taste of the lager??? |
| Posted By: Ben Posted On: Jun 28, 2005 Views: 125 | RE: stubbies The story of stubbies in Canada is pretty much the story of stubbies in Australia (yes, we called them stubbies too), right down to their disappearance/replacement-by-longneck - without public consultation - from the market in the 1980s (although I don't think Magnum PI had much to do with that down here). It was a sad day for Aussie beer drinkers. What's wrong with all these damn crazy-ass breweries, anyway? |
