However, I would not have tried so hard. It would have been obvious to me that John did not want to bring up his past. Perhaps it was because he too had similar feelings but was not as accepting of them as you are of yours. I would have respected those feelings. You have come to terms with your orientation. Perhaps he has not. Therefore, I do not see him as a jerk, just as someone who might be as sensitive as you but pehaps not as courageous. I can forgive that. I might have made two or three attempts at communication, and if unsuccessful, would have then gone on with my life. My wish for you is a fulfilled life, something I know you will achieve.
