RE: dolphins

Hey Kelli, would you rather a human or a dolphin die? Because it sounds to me that you would rather have a human being die.

RE: dolphins

Yes, people and animals die. But that is life, and that is war. During war there will be casualties. During war there will be destruction. Nothing will stop that. And yes, it sucks. Get over it.

The dolphins in the program are actualy a lot more safe then their handlers and counterparts. Mines are designed to be set off by the sounds of a running ship and are specificly meant to ignore marine life. The dolphin does nothing other than mark the area that the mine is in so that a human diver can swim down and remove the threat. The dolphin is no where around the mine when it is disarmed. There is very little danger towards the animal.

RE: dolphins

You would rather see a human die than what? Than a human not die? The dolphins are not hurt. They do, however, save the lives of shipfulls of humans, as well as supplies and food for humanitarian missions.
And yes, there will be cases where a dolphin will get hurt or where it may die. But the Navy's survival rate for marine mammals are actualy higher than the survival rate in the wild. So it is actualy more likely that a dolphin will survive when it is in the hands of the Navy than when it is wild.
