It really is not important as long as I know, if there is something wrong, I have recourse. Maybe I would repair myself, send it back or have someone else repair. When I buy On E-bay I never ask if it has been dipped. I guess however if I paid high bucks for it I would be more concerned about wether it was dipped or not.Having never paid more than 100.00 for a pen it is not as big a deal as it would be if I had just bought a Pelikan 1000. So I guess even though I said it was not important, it could be under certain considerations

Whether the pen has found ink is less important to me if the pen falls in the modern pen catagory that is post WWII. If I find any mint
pre WWII mint pens uninked I would and have
left them uninked. That is to say preserve the
oldies for posterity, there are many users to
write with.
