I have to confess that I'm sorely tempted to delete it because it contains homophobic and ageist slurs that extend well beyond just me as an individual. But then I might be accused of censoring statements critical of me. I don't want to do that, so I'll let that statement stand as is and speak for itself. That has always been my general policy toward postings here, anyway. Once before, I temporarily eliminated the Comments feature because it was being misused. If these personal attacks don't stop here, I will eliminate the Comments once again. Please note that, in general, I will not target and block specific individuals or particular comments. That would put me in the role of a censor, and that's something I won't do. I did, however, remove one thread and a few other statements for legal reasons because they contained potentially libelous assertions. But I am willing to eliminate this feature completely so that nobody can provide comments here. In short, please reserve the use of this Comments forum for comments about the current poll. Otherwise, please find another forum to share your views. Thanks. Wayne |

That was also one of the problems that led to canceling the Comments feature a while back. Again, if such impersonations persist, I'll have no choice but to take that drastic step once again. I hope it doesn't come to that. C'mon, everybody -- let's be responsible, respectful adults here and behave ourselves. Thanks. Wayne |

I think whenever you give people the opportunity for open discussions online this will always be an occupational hazard. I must admit i find it hard to understand the mentality behind trolling and online vitriolic attacks, but it seems rampant in some parts of the online community, particularly in political discussion. But to find it here, a corner of the web where I thought we were all here to chat about innocuous and specific elements of Pet Shop Boys surprises me. Your talk of shutting down your discussion page reminds me of the days when the BBC used to have a ‘Have Your Say’ section on their news site, where people could express their opinions about news stories, but they had to shut it down because they didn’t have the resources to police it because people were so abuse to each other on it. I appreciate your wish to not be a censor, but maybe you need to see yourself as more a moderator, not that you should even have to do that in the first place. You curate a wonderful site here, it would be such a shame if it became a go to place for angry, abusive people. A friend of mine runs a YouTube channel about classic cars, all very amateur and good fun, but he has told me of the abuse he has received, some of it very unpleasant, and I didn’t believe until I saw it, I just couldn’t believe how someone could get angry about an old Ford or Mercedes or whatever. So I do realise what people like you with channels/sites online put up with. Best wishes to you for 2020. And thanks for the time consuming work you continue to put in here. P |

In fact, since the last comment debacle, some of the people who regularly offered thoughtful, intelligent, coherent commentary in this section seem to have simply stopped--"Gabby" comes to mind as someone whose comments I miss reading.
