Posted By: ClessNess Posted On: Apr 7, 2002 Views: 1206 | Trigger vs. Cross Chrono Trigger - 7 characters, Good charachterization, plenty of subquests, more techs/combos than you can shake a stick at, cool time travel bit, and good story Chrono Cross: A ****load of characters, poor characharization, some subquests, not enough techs/combos, cool alternate universe bit, and cool if incomprehensible story. I voted for Chrono Trigger. |

Posted By: ClessNess Posted On: Apr 7, 2002 Views: 1203 | RE: Trigger vs. Cross ... Deary me. That was my brother just now. He has never played Chrono Trigger, and so does not know it's full glory. Forgive his ignorance. By the way, ClessAlvein? How come I was censored? This is a violation of my free speech, and besides, this is a very liberal website. Could you uncensor it? |
Posted By: Mike Posted On: Apr 7, 2002 Views: 1201 | RE: Trigger vs. Cross I've never played chrono trigger, only chrono cross. can anyone explain the differences to me? it seems like a cool game, but I have yet to play it. My bro back in my hometown bought the FF2/trigger playstation game (i think there's one out like it) so i'll play it come summer time, but I just want to know what i missed since I haven't played trigger yet. thanks |
Posted By: Unknown Posted On: Apr 8, 2002 Views: 1176 | RE: Trigger vs. Cross Chrono Trigger is an incredable and possibly one of the best games I have played. I have never played cross so I cannot say a thing about it. |
Posted By: jobe2457 Posted On: Apr 8, 2002 Views: 1169 | RE: Trigger vs. Cross Both chrono trigger and chrono cross are great games, but i would have to vote for chrono trigger. It had alot better characters (althought Serge was pretty sweet) and alot better side quests. My only problem with crono cross is that you had to play the game a couple of times to get all the characters, way to much effort just to get all your party members. |
Posted By: NeoGinyu Posted On: Apr 8, 2002 Views: 1162 | RE: Trigger vs. Cross For those of you who say that either of these games suck: YOU ARE A F***ING MORON. I personally think that Chrono Trigger is better than Chrono Cross, but not by much. First of all, whoever said that CC had too little techs and combos probably never even found half of them. There are at least the same amount of combos and techs in CC as there are in CT. Remember, there are like 40 characters, and each character has at least one combo with another character, and has 3 techs. That's 120 techs, and there must be at least 20 or 25 combos. And you must admit it, CC has more replay value than CT. I just wish that CC's storyline was more closely related to CT's and a bit less ambiguous. So, CC just falls short of tying CT in my opinion. |
Posted By: ClessNess Posted On: Apr 8, 2002 Views: 1155 | RE: Trigger vs. Cross Granted, there are a lot of techs by themselves, but would Chrono Trigger have been fun with only techs? No, of course not. The real fun is in finding the huge numbers of Double and Triple Techs. In Cross, there are 2 Triple techs, and about 6 Double techs. Hardly one for each character. Nonetheless, I agree that they are both very good games, even if I needed a guide to understand Cross's plot :P |
Posted By: Yar Kramer Posted On: Apr 9, 2002 Views: 1149 | RE: Trigger vs. Cross I'd comment here, but that would only cloud the issue. I've only played Trigger, and the script for Cross I've seen was incomplete. |
Posted By: Mike Posted On: Apr 10, 2002 Views: 1132 | RE: RE: Trigger vs. Cross ok guys, thanks for the feedback. The only thing that's unclear to me is how the gameplay is in chrono trigger. If someone could compare it to a FF game it would be helpful. Oh and could someone back me up on CT being out for playstation? I think my bro said he bought it on playstation and it comes with FF2 (FF4J) but I'm not sure. Thanks again guys, I hope CT is even better than CC because I thought CC was a REALLY good game. |
Posted By: NeoGinyu Posted On: Apr 10, 2002 Views: 1128 | RE: Trigger vs. Cross CT's gameplay really cannot be compared to any FF game. The battles take place on the same screen that exploring takes place on, they are most similar to Breath of Fire 3's battles. In CT, enemies are encountered the same way as in CC (monsters are walking around on their own in the area) but battles don't take place in a separate screen as they do in CC and FF games. That was one thing I was disappointed with in CC. Commands in battles are given in practically the same way as in FF games, and there is a time gauge that fills up before characters can attack. The attack command is pretty different from CC's, there's no light, medium, and hard attacks like in CC, just attack like in FF games. One of my favorite parts of CT and CC is that both games have battleless overworlds. CT had (if I remember right) 6 different time periods to explore, which made it really cool. CT's an awesome game, you should definitely play through it. P.S. It is available on the PSX. It is bundled with FF4 (2) in a game called Final Fantasy Chronicles. If you haven't played either FF4 or CT, I suggest buying it. |
Posted By: Yo Momma Posted On: Apr 10, 2002 Views: 1124 | RE: Trigger vs. Cross I think theey're both great games. CT had a good plot and awesome game play, and how CC's relationship with CT was introduced was awesome. I watched for links the whole game. Plus CC had so many chars. I hated CC battle system, plus bosses were lacking difficulty. I voted for CT. |
Posted By: Mike Posted On: Apr 10, 2002 Views: 1120 | RE: Trigger vs. Cross Thanks for the info. I actually called my bro today and he told me that he has the playstation FF2/CT game! I know how I'll be spending my summer... (that's cool how there's no weak, medium, and strong attack. I just used strong every time.) |
Posted By: Charlemagne Posted On: Apr 11, 2002 Views: 1114 | RE: Trigger vs. Cross I agree with Gamingfreak about Clessness burning in hell, but, CHRONO CROSS IS A PILE OF PUKE WHEN COMPARED TO CHRONO TRIGGER!!!!!!!!!!! NOW WATCH ME BOINK YOUR MOM FOR LAUGHS!!! HAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA SEE I'M LAUGHING, SO I MUST BE DOING A GOOD JOB!!!!! CHRONO CROSS GET OUT OF MY TEETH!!! AAHHHHHHHHH!!!!! AAARRggblblblbbbbbbbzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........ |
Posted By: Unknown Posted On: Apr 11, 2002 Views: 1108 | RE: Trigger vs. Cross All right, as I said, I have never played CC but from what I hear it is nothing compared to CT. I mean weak medium and strong attacks? That makes the game way too easy. But I still want to play CC. |
