RESTRICTED OPINION

Dear Sirs,
I wish to point out that the poll format should include a field "other" so that a voter may still post a vote . I am a very ardent admirer of Miguel Fleta and I wish to post a vote for him. In my opinion, he may well be taken to have been the greatest.
Best regards,
Joseph

RE: RESTRICTED OPINION

I agree with your comments, why the "Other" field was added, unfortunately the service does not allow for inserting a field where the name of this "other" can be specified. That will have to be done here, in "Comments." Hopefully, some of you will take the opportunity to state your opinions in "Tenor Watch."

I admit that the question is controversial, and perhaps even more so the tenor alternatives provided. However, I wanted to start with a short and restricted poll, which obviously implied leaving out tenors such as Lázaro, Martinelli, Fleta, Di Stefano, Tucker or Kraus, to name a few. When asking the question "Who is the greatest tenor of the century?" implicitly the selection was made in terms of popularity, stretched over the century (one could obviously say that Pertile enjoyed more popularity among Italians 1930 than perhaps Domingo has ever in a short period of time) and naturally respecting artistic quality. It is not a list of preferences, although preferences obviously to some degree would bias a vote.

I believe this poll will logically anticipate the next one: What are the criteria for chosing the "Greatest Tenor of the Century?"

RE: RESTRICTED OPINION

I wonder the bad position of Beniamino Gigli in the list. I'm proud to announce that monday 7th of April in the Finnish National Opera will be held the commemoration concert of Beniamino Gigli 2003 with the special quest star SALVATORE FISICHELLA to whom will be given the Beniamino Gigli Prize of 2003!!! Gigli cannot be forgotten. He has given so much to the world. The little assiciation Beniamino Gigli of Finland has in recent years organised many concerts of world top-level for the memory of Beniamino. We remember Pietro Ballo (1996), Fabio Armiliato (2000), Stefano Secco (2001 e finally Salvatore Fisichella who today said that it is a great honour to sing for Gigli in Finland, the country where the memory of Gigli is still living thanks to my0 40 years long work. My very bes compliments to the site of Grandi tenori, very intresting!
