Posted By: Mkguyver Posted On: Jan 13, 2003 Views: 995 | Heat exchanger in vacuum The moon must be a very harsh environment in terms of heat/cold suface temp. Perhaps, one you more scientific minded persons could explain how a heat exchanger works with no gas or fluid, such as air or water? Aren't these required to operate a heat exchanger? Never figured this one out. |

The spacesuits cool down by spraying a fine spray of water over the heat exchanger coils. Being in a vacuum the water vapour rapidly expands, and as it does so rapidly cools and freezes onto the coils. The water that circulates through the suits is cooled by passing through the frozen coil. The heat given up by the internal suit water is dispersed into the vacuum of space as the outside ice melts. It only uses a little water in the process, a mere drop in the ocean compared to the volume of drinking water taken for a crew of three for a period of a week or more. Posted By: Bart Hess Posted On: Feb 11, 2003 Views: 973 | RE: Heat exchanger in vacuum While your trying to explain that one-how 'bout this? Those magical astro-NOT suits that can keep them at just the right temp. AND protect them from radiation,AND deflect micrometeoroids.....if they are pressurized, how do they move with such ease? Here's your answer:the suit is compartmentalized, several different sections sealed off.Come on,even a 4 year old can understand that B.S. Here's another thing:only NASA people will say the suit can do everything they say it can. Go back to Space Camp,Buzz,Jr. |
Posted By: Keith Mayes Posted On: Feb 11, 2003 Views: 970 | RE: Heat exchanger in vacuum Bart, You have done it again. First you claim that NASA murdered the shuttle crew as a 'diversion', now you say the spacesuits can't operate in space. That being the case means that all the following that required space suits never happened:- Men never walked on the Moon. The Russians did not build the MIR Space Station, it never existed. The International Space Station does not exist. The Hubble Space Telescope does not exist, they make up all the photos. Wow! You have really uncovered a massive conspiracy theory this time! You are so clever. You being so smart must be how you worked out that NASA murdered the shuttle crew. I'm sure that we are all convinced by your logic. I think you should be given an award for the most stupid argument yet put forward by a hoax believer. When it comes to stupidity and ignorance, you are in a class all of your own! |
Posted By: Bart1972 Posted On: Feb 11, 2003 Views: 966 | RE: Heat exchanger in vacuum There's a BIG difference in low Earth orbit(hardly any radiation) and prancing about on the Moon 35 years ago. Look at your precious videos of astr-NOTs spacewalking-floating,just floating....what an amazing feat.Wow.150 miles up.Oh boy. |
Posted By: Keith Mayes Posted On: Feb 12, 2003 Views: 954 | RE: Heat exchanger in vacuum You say that there is a big difference in radiation in Earth orbit compared to the surface of the Moon. What exactly is this big difference then? Please explain and quantify the difference. You said previously "Those magical astro-NOT suits that can keep them at just the right temp. AND protect them from radiation,AND deflect micrometeoroids.....if they are pressurized, how do they move with such ease?" What exactly is this big difference that means that spacesuits don't work at all on the Moon but work just fine in Earth orbit? You say "Look at your precious videos of astr-NOTs spacewalking-floating,just floating....what an amazing feat.Wow.150 miles up.Oh boy." Just what is the problem with EVA's? Is this something else that is way beyond your limited understanding? |
