Since you have all the answers.

Is there a God?

The film footage of Jurassic Park has me absolutely terrified. Those dinosaurs look real... More convincing than the Moon Landing footage... Is it out of the realm of possibility that there are dinosaurs?

Do you believe in BigFoot? The Grimlin/Patterson film has yet to be disproven, although a similiar FOX program tried to disprove it.

RE: Since you have all the answers.

Jurassic Park was actually shot on the moon using real lunar dinosaurs. Big Foot lives there as well and is cared for by the heavenly angels who live on the dark side of the moon.
The reason the Apollo moon footage doesn't look too good is because it wasn't real, it was faked up by Disney.
Anything else you want to know, just ask.

RE: The potential for modern sims

To answer the original poster: back in 1969, the state of the art in movie special effects was decidedly primitive - it was necessary to make physical models and film them, though some editing could subsequently be done. Monster movies of the day look deliciously comic as a result. The spectacular increase in computing power over the subsequent few decades has made it possible to generate artificial images, such as those used in Jurassic Park, of excellent quality; but the technology to do so simply didn't exist in 1969.

On a more constructive note, there are now publicly available datasets of images of the Earth and Moon, as seen from space; using one of the better modern game engines, one could now provide an excellent first-person immersive game of flying around the Earth-Moon system. It'd be pretty. Since being physically correct is optional for such a sim, we could even (throwing in xephem's dataset of stars and the motions of other planets) give the doubters a nice view of the stars as a backdrop.

Perhaps, in the future, technology will advance to the point where we can do convincing artificial stupidity (an obvious field allied to AI research) and get it to produce a book full of "evidence" that the Apollo landings never happened, simulating the work of various authors and thereby proving that they never wrote them.

RE: Since you have all the answers.

I know how you feel. When I first saw Jurassic Park back in the day, I absolutely freaked. They looked so real...but hey, you know what, those Hollywood stuntmen walking around on fire look incredibly real as well! I suppose those monks burning themselves in Vietnam were just hoaxes.
