NWN!

It seems to have more vivid colors than the DS shots. More contrasting and all that jazz. As for the models, they are probably are equal. I find NWN's textures to be better looking too.

RE: NWN!

I would have to agree Marec, the colors seem more vivid in NWN.

I have to disagree on the model complexity issue, I believe that NWN models are slighty higher poly count and better textures. I also think that overall the use of bump mapping and other "Shaders" assist in making objects have a more complex look to them in NWN.

The ground textures in NWN are a bit static in the outdoor shots, but on the indoor shot with the Balor and all the other indoor shots I've ever seen the detail of the ground textures is unsurpassed.

Final note, if you look at the detail on the "Money Shot" for each... you'll notice that the monster (beholder ripoff) in the Dungeon Seige shot is VERY low poly count, rough and has poor texture application. Where the Balor in NWN is high poly count, with the glowing eye effect (not a cheap fake reflection on the texture) and the fire effect on the wings.

Hope that does not spark too many flames at me. 8-D

RE: NWN!

Dungeon Siege looks like a cartoon while NWN looks more professional.

RE: NWN!

I think the NWN textures look alot sharper than those in DS. And the Baalor scene is absolutely brilliant.

RE: NWN!

Alright the only good thing I can say for DS is that the wizard is wearing a real robe. But, other than that I can't get past how blurry and undefined the ground looks in all those DS shots especially the money shot. Looks like they could be floating two feet above the ground, where's the shadows?

In contrast the money shot for NWN the ground is clear and highly detailed, textures are sharp and every object is casting a shadow.

RE: NWN!

Well..If you look at the ground, NWN is certainly better(graphics, design, etc.). What people aren't see is as follows:

1. There are multiple lights in the last shot of NWN, but I only see one shadow from each character. Could someone tell me where the hell the other ones went? =P

2. Examine the 4th shots from both DS and NWN..See a difference? The armor/clothing in NWN are blended together in a sloppy attempt to make a harmonic graphical design..Now look at DS..The details are awesome! And..They added small shadows to the parts of the armor/clothing (under the arms, iron folds, etc.), while NWN added an unrealistic piece to their graphics -- undefined shadowing. By undefined, I mean that they simply added shadows wherever they wanted to..HA! haha..DS introduced a shadow-effect which remained realistic..(I doubt a dark room would yield such a shadow when there are multiple lights)..No such shadows in NWN could exist realisticicaly with that much light...~_~..It would basically null out the concept in general!

Ok..I feel like i'm talking to idiots..I can only assume that all of you have ****ty vid cards or really bad eyesight..Or you'll lie just to protect your beloved NWN just to avoid being made an a$$ of..HAHA!

RE: NWN!

Ok, to prove the graphics on DS suck, I have a Radion VE (32Mb DDR) and a P3 (sorry, AMD rocks) 500MHz, and 384Mbs of SD-RAM (I'm poor). All I have to say is that I can't get complex graphics my card and I do have DS. It sucks. The highest res. is 1024x768x32, and my card can only take 800x600x32 w/ simple textures and grappy object graphics (there is a scale for graphics for objects on DS. I don't know what Microsoft is trying to pull off, but there are lots of people who play RPG's to their fullest and they can't do all this Sh** for graphics. At least NWN has a small amount for PC specs. so u can actually use it at 800x600 w/ a 16Mb card and be fine w/ all the other stuff your Graphics Card is supposed to be able to output w/o the cost of Frame Rate. Maybe my PC's speed is too slow, but 500Mhz works fine w/ any other game, so y not DS? Black & White was even able to run 60fps and that game took lots of my CPU, that's y I upgraded to a Radion in the 1st place. U should see the textures in NWN. The player characters have 3D outfits, unlike the pre-rendered outfits in DS, and the graphics upclose are worse than that of Diablo 2 or El Kardian. I think there should be an ingame video of both games at their default settings to show the real difference.

RE: RE: NWN!

Since NWN is not out, it is hard to make a valid comparison. But from the screenshots, NWN does not look very impressive. On the other hand, DS is extremely impressive graphically. The character models have very detailed textures and great animations. The outdoor scenes are of course spectacular, with great trees and typically deep valleys and high mountains. I love the dragons too, lol. Initially i though the story, or rather lack of it, was a big letdown. But having played the thing for a few weeks, i enjoy the mindless hacking of it all. Worth mentioning too are the great controls, it is so easy to move around and change the view. The interface design is superb. I doubt if NWN can match all of this. On the other hand, story is where DS is flawed, and NWN could make a killing here. Also, the DM idea is terrific, and if implemented well could also be a killer. All these are terrific, but it wont beat the talented designers and engineers who constructed the graphics of DS.
