Suppressing .....

We are atleast, in this forum advocating for the existance of constructive opposition, well! in real life it becomes very difficult to practice. I don't need to struggle that much to furnish my claim as the recent deeds of the government and coupled with failurity to condemen the act nor willing to investigate shows how essential is constructive opposition.
Giving with one hand and denying with the other doesn't conform with the proclaimed democratic activity, federallism, regional outonomy and ...the Jazz! People should be entitled to express.... in peaceful means and the goverment should rise above the saituation by finding other peaceful means of entertaining their questions without resorting to the use of rifle.
suppression neither resolve the diffrence nor give an answer to the question. We should urge the government to see the light, by embracing the opposition as counter checking mechanism!

We urge for the transparency of act!
Willingness to be confronted and judged, by opposition!
Let democracy practiced!

RE: comment on EDP poll

Dear sirs,
how would you justify the validity of the count if you do not have some details about who the people who cast their votes in the poll.would u be able to tell if someone twice cast their views in the poll .I am not an expert in the matter but think this works against the overall count of 552 indicated when I cast mine.
thanks and keep up the good work.

RE: Suppressing .....

The gov't knows what it is doing. It's a preplanned, divious strategy of dismantling the country and distroying all its historical legacies. It looks apparent that the regime of TPLF/EPRDF will change for good and open the door to entertain views from the opposition. That is why it is engaged in supressing all voices for democracy, unity, economic development, human right and peace. Should we opt for other means and confront the regime by military means? I don't think this warrants a peaceful transition of power nor a shortcut in the struggle to empower the people. What we need to do is to get organized under strong and all-inclusive political parties such as EDP and intensify the peaceful resistance to the higher level. If we are orgainized under effective selfless political leadership like EDP we are bound to transform the struggle to higher level of civil disobediance. God bless Ethiopia.

RE: Suppressing .-Not true....

Dear Hassabu,

If you are talking of the so called opposition of ethiopians "ye anati lij kemeche ager yigezal" means tigre, then that is a discussion not worth having.
Again if you are concerned about the opposition that is in washington dc lobying for the blocking imf and world bank loans until they come to power, or egypt agrees that is also a discussion not worth having.

The opposition should first accept that any ethiopian regardless of his/her origin or religion can rule ethiopia. period. otherwise the opposition ethiopia is not wrth having as a country at all.

No body wants to be a proud citizen of a country in famine and starvation every decade.

Concerned optimistic

To have a democratic system means every constructive voice shall have a proper representation. It is a dinning table for all; moreover it should be able to cater for parties with outlook differences. Having different parties is a desired part as it gives alterative and enables to keep a political equilibrium. This can be done at least in theory without resorting to the usage of rifle. Thus in this line of thinking I do agree with you unequivocally!

You have used this statement, “No body wants to be a proud citizen of a country in famine and starvation every decade.” , I would like to emphasise the fact that there is a part played by the governments of the days, MANMADE CALAMITIES. Namely;
- the Emperor was out of touch and the whole system gave it a cold
shoulder to the crisis and played no part to avert or to ……
- the Colonel’s era was filled with non viable state machineries of
suppression, not taking into account the prevailing factors, settlement,
prolonged internal war, resource allocation, preparation for the 13 revolution anniversary and not tarnish the image, etc
- the recent ones are attributed to the naivety of the government about the cycle, shifting focus to other current affair, poor regional structuring- not letting others to share a grazing land, lack of contingency plan- currently this has been implemented, etc
As I have tried to jotted down some of the manmade calamities that had hindered not to take the appropriate action either prior to the disaster or during the time of the disaster, one can vividly see that manmade calamities played a very significant role. Thus dear concerned optimistic this generation’s task is to alleviate these situation that are haunting us for quite considerable time, everyone who claimed as a citizen of this country should find a way to play a pivotal role in fighting our big enemies: Ignorance, poverty, starvation and HIV/AIDS.
