I'd much rather use: -Books (numerous) -Harps or Bells (Bards and Geomancers FF5) -Paintbrushes (Relm FF6) -Cameras, Drills and Chainsaws (Edgar FF6) -Megaphones or Umbrellas (Cait Sith and Aeris FF7) -Forks (Quina FF9) -Rolled-up Carpets (Dancer, FFT) -Brooms (Arche, Tales of Phantasia) -Wrenches (Lexis, Lufia 2) or maybe even something cool like a gun or a laser which nevertheless does less damage than the good old sword. |

The only reason that guns aren't common is because most RPGs take place in a mediavil setting. I'll admit that they tend to seem cooler but they are still an inferior weapon. It's all in how the weapon is displayed anyway. For leveling up the weapon there are ways toget past the fact that the strength stat won't affect the gun. All in all I think that the gun is an under represented weapon in RPGs. |

It is better than a sword, after all, you didn't need much training to plug a bolt in a swordman before he got close enough to hurt you(hence why the were frowned upon, the leveled the playing field). |

It does not take all that much skill to fire a gun, where as with a lance or an axe, it takes skill. Because you have to move it correctly, have to have a good amout of stamina and strength, and you have to know what in the hell you are doing with it. Guns are not fun compared to a good old fasion katana. |
