Posted By: Bill Cooper Posted On: Aug 26, 2006 Views: 1306 | RE: An error in Keith's text If I may step in here, there is an element of truth that the beam may by going up or down, BUT for there to be light leakage, I'd bet that you would see 'shadows' and a variation in the light. If you look, you can see that the diffuse light in the cloud 'dissipates' outward. all around evenly. If the light were being directed down I think we would see the source, rather like being off beam of a torch, you are not 'in the beam' but you may see the 'bulb' An astute observation Simon, but in this case I'm afraid optics (as we know it) puts this one as eminating from the ground. |
