Posted By: Phil Posted On: Apr 24, 2008 Views: 1588 | RE: Ignorance The point is not that we might or might not be the only life in the universe (the numbers would suggest we probably aren't) but the sheer distances between objects in our universe. Even at light speeds, the nearest planets in other solar systems are at incredible distances from us. |
Posted By: Walt Posted On: Aug 18, 2008 Views: 1499 | RE: Ignorence I believe that the string theory of quantum mechanics may explain how we may be able to travel much faster then the speed of light. The fact that we burn fuel to propel our machinery will limit our travels to just our solar system, but when, not if, we harness the power of electro-magnetism we will solve our energy problem and reach for the stars. Electro-magnetisms energy potential is about equal to the 34th power greater then nuclear. There is also the possibility of finding a way to use Anti-mater some day too. I'm not a member of the "Man Will Never Fly " club from Kill Devil Hills, NC. Mankind needs only to dream of the future to see the future! We are truly ascension beings that some day may look back at this time as being very primitive. Your Bud, Walt |
