Posted By: Kevin Posted On: Feb 13, 2009 Views: 1484 | Mars Keith, I'd like to know how you feel about life existing on Mars (either currently or at least in the past). I'm talking microbial lifeforms obviously but it seems to me that it was highly likely at least bacteria were living on Mars at some point in the past, when Mars was much similar to the Earth. I am actually beginning to believe that life still exists on Mars, deep under the surface where possible liquid water exists. I base this mainly on the new evidence of methane emissions coming from Mars (which here on Earth are caused mainly by bacterial waste products from their metabolism). I am definitely not saying I think or am certain there is life on Mars either now or in the past, but I definitely think it would have and still is possible, maybe even likely. What do you think about it Keith (or others who read this)? |

It seems very likely that life could have once existed on Mars, and even possible it still does today, on a bacterial type level. It would be really something if they actually manage to find some and I think that is just a matter of time. |
Posted By: Kevin Posted On: Feb 18, 2009 Views: 1472 | RE: Mars I agree. I think within the next 20 to 30 years we will have confirmed that life existed on Mars or even still exists today. Hopefully that'll throw a big wrench into the religion machine and maybe we could start maturing as a people--but this may be just wishful thinking lol. |
Posted By: Stethoscope Boy Posted On: Mar 8, 2009 Views: 1454 | RE: Mars lol, I doubt life on Mars will affect religion that much. Religion survived through the earth being round, the earth orbiting the sun, the earth not being the center of the universe, the theory of evolution etc. It would be interesting to see what some of the worlds religions would have to say when life is discovered though. That is something I really want to be alive for. |
Posted By: Kevin Posted On: Mar 8, 2009 Views: 1451 | RE: Mars That is very likely. I am sure the religions will find someway to explain life on Mars. No doubt, many of them will say it is merely a "test of God" to see how faithful they really are or some other bull**** reason. I am beginning to lose hope for humanity and its rise above such religion lol. |

I don't know of ONE that does! In fact, some religions ACTIVELY teach that there IS life elsewhere in the universe. |
