Creationism

Any thoughts on creationism, either scientific or unscientific? Let's cover all the grounds here.

Hell of a lot of ground to cover, but nice one!

RE: Creationism

For Creationism to be true, one simply has to have blind faith. There are far too many holes in creationism for it to be scientific. I for one, am a protestant, however I am always open for a scientific view on things.

For God to have created the Universe, he would of had to have always been, and always will be. Again, blind faith, as that's impossible. I do find the thought of having an omnipotent being watching over you in life and seeing you through hard times comforting though, as well as having an understanding of what happens after death.

Until science can prove his non-existence, I am a believer in creationism, although i wonder if maybe science and religon can coincide? Perhaps God used the big bang to create life? Who knows.

RE: Creationism

Stephen I would like to point out that there are far more holes in evolution than creation So many 'proofs' of evolution have been repeatedly found to be either misinterpreted or plain fakes (piltdown man, speckled moths...). If there are any fakes used to prove creation they can only have been created by non-christians trying to give us a bad reputation. For pages and pages of real scientific evidence for creation, see www.answersingenesis.org. The universe, earth and lihuman life was all created in 6 days by God our creator as it says in the Bible. Call me dogmatic if you will but it's true!

RE: Creationism

6 days? Were the dinosaurs born on the 2nd day and dead by the 5th day, and that's only if humans were created on the 6th? It isn't easy to argue against some ideas of faith, not truth, that christians and other religions have. But by far, what you have eluded to is the most simple-minded. Unless, you mean to say, which you didn't say, that days=metaphor, meaning that it could have taken God millions of years to create the universe.

It is written that it took God 6 days, but that is without a doubt a incorrect. Scientifically, dinosaurs existed and ruled Earth for millions of ears. That is about the simplest support that God gave himself a lot more time to create humans than what is written in the Bible. There is a lot of other complex, scientific support that says Earth has been around for about 5 billion years and the universe 14 billion. Humans have only be around for about 1% or less of that time. I don't think your creationist mind has the evidence to begin to refute. All you have is writing that says you must believe and have faith, not a tool for support.

Do you know the definition of "scientific"? In order for something to be scientific, you must be able to test it in some way. Saying that God created everything in 6 days isn't testable. It is faith not truth, there is a big difference.
Faith is something that is believed for which there is NO proof. Science is only proof or theory, but that's a whole other ball park. You don't have faith in science, you have an understanding of science, or good ideas :).

But I guess you'll learn as we all will one day...when we die of course. Isn't it sad that we all must die in God's world? If God were just, he would allow all that was good in the world right into his kingdom, instead of letting them suffer along with the evil and souls doomed for hell. Alas, I digress.

Dogmatic is going easy on you. I won't say what isn't easy on you, but ou need to open up your mind. If I tell you the sun is just a big flashlight being held up against a hole on a blackboard, do you believe me? If it was written in the Bible, would you believe it, or would you be curious? Of course you would be curious, how else did you find Keith Mayes? He isn't listed under irrefutable christian beliefs of people who believe in creationism. I found him b/c I questioned the magnificent wonder of the pyramids in Africa and whether or not they weren't built some other way.

God won't punish you for being curious or for wanting to know the whole story without metaphors.

Think on it, always,

Logimick

RE: Creationism

You're saying cration is untestable. It has exactly the same 'testability' as ecolution.
