A problem no-one could solve

Imagine...There is a city...There is a cage in its centre...In the cage there is a baby...It's scabbed, wounded and blind and starving...Everyone in the city is
wealthy and has no problems but this wealth and the everyone's life is due to the suffering of the baby...Any citizen of the city can set him free any moment, they all have the key to open the cage and the baby will be cured and won't suffer anymore...but all the people will die after long suffering...but - the baby will remain alive. What would you do?Would you open the cage and release the baby?
Such moral choice is far more hard than solving any scientific problem no matter how difficult it is. Once I was asked to make my choice in this position I became numb,I tried but couldn't.

RE: Thou shalt not kill. Hm...

There was a case in Russia during the Second World War...A loving mother killed her child...deliberately!
It happened in a little village. There was an attack of German and all the people that lived in the village hid in a trench.German came up very close...Everyone (there was a lot of people) in the trench was silent not to be detected...And at that very moment a woman saw that her baby was about to cry.And she killed him to save the others.Soon after that she became crazy.Life is more complicated than one can imagine. It's full of many things that are hard to believe,so hard to accept but they are.Thou shalt not kill?God? Those people who wrote Bible knew nothing about life!
I wonder what would they do in that position? It is a crazy world! Not God is its Power but Vanity and Lust, Hypocrisy and Wish to dominate over others.Such people rule this world, such hypocrites wrote Bible and the laws. Now people are learnt but this knoledge becomes an ulcer in an ignorant heart.
Maybe, once we will become sensible and we will create Civilisation but not now.We still have a long way to go.Our minds are becoming more and more sophisticated but our hearts remain ignorant.
Don't take me wrong.Of course, one should not kill but what would You do?Probably,if God exists he hasn't ever read the commandments, hasn't read the Bible.
Otherwise why put his children in such a position?
I don't mind, people need religion but only because they don't have true understanding in their hearts. The cause of it the social system based on competition. We are taught to 'kill' one another since being children,we are given wrong understanding of truly values.Just open your eyes!We are taught to fight, not to love.
But once things will change.
I believe in it.
'My country is the whole world,
My religion is to do good' Thomas Paine

RE: A problem no-one could solve

Let's see..... One baby suffering or a whole city suffering then dying so the baby can be free and happy. Who's going to care for the baby then, oh never mind.
Not a hard moral choice is it, one baby or an entire city?
What´s your problem?

RE: A problem no-one could solve

I don´t know about you, but in the country of my birth, England, our armed forces are not taught to fight just for the sake of it. Our troops are there to defend our country from aggressors and to help other countries that need help. In the course of their duties it is sometimes necessary to defend themselves or others by killing the attacker. I do not see any problem with that. How can you just stand back and watch women and children be massacred when you have the power to stop it?

RE: A problem no-one could solve

And what is your problem,Keith? Considering it were your baby: your son or your daughter? Considering it were you in the cage? Moral choice is not a matter of reason,it is entirely about your heart. If it were someone whom I love I would sacrifice not only a city but the whole world for his or her life.

RE: A problem no-one could solve

You would sacrifice the WHOLE WORLD for someone you love??????
Such stupidity, short-sightedness and utter selfishness is hard to comprehend for us rational people.
I would sacrifice myself so that the world could live, better still, I would sacrifice you, that would be a win win result as the planet would be better off without idiots like you.
