Lauri-Volpi recorded his best version of "E lucevan le stelle" on 31 January 1928 for the Victor Recording Company and he was 36 at the time. On stage he had sung Cavaradossi for the very first time in 1921 at Madrid, Teatro Real, then in many cities of Spain during that year. Corelli sang the same aria I referred to previously not in 1957 but 1967, at the concert held in Parma. He was 46. From late 1950s to early 1960s Corelli was under Lauri-Volpi's masterly tutorship. He was present at the unveiling of Lauri-Volpi's head statue in the hall of the Met in 1965 accompanied by Giovanni Martinelli. The dates fit well.
