Infinity

infinity is that thing that exists beyond the crusted boundary of our known universe. Universe can be translated as the one word of God, or Uni-Verse. Nothing can spring from temporal means, because all temporal means are connected relatively speaking to an infinite array of happenings, future happenings and possibilities. When the last particle is found, as building block of all matter from its energetic coversion, we will see infinity in face.

correction word: conversion instead of coversion.

RE: Infinity

I don't think we'll ever find the last particle. I like what Kevin wrote about it and it makes more sense to me.
It's not a particle but information what the reality is composed of on its very fundamental level. My ideas on the subject are in 'The Science and Religion of Self'.They are much alike to Kevin's ones.

RE: Infinity

When you say, we will never find the last particle, then what you are saying is, science is a lost field with no conclusive answer, only theories, leading us where? To religion, or spirituality, you might say. Let me remind you that there was a distinction made many moons ago regarding science and pseudo science, between religion and science. Mr. Higgs laid out the parameters for this so called last particle, so this endeavor is pure and absolute science. If this particle/field be found, and it points back to GOD, then so be it. For the time being, everything is still up for debate. I will read the book you listed and will get back to you.

I am not saying, I don't believe in spirituality, and that there is no connection between that and science... I believe that science is a vast field of study regarding the mechanism of reality, which is the study of matter within the four dimensional quality. It's like viewing/analyzing the fantastic machine, apart from, though not disavowed from Creation. Many scientists take this far, and try to answer all things without leaving room for the possibility of a Maker, Makers, or even a spiritual context.

RE: Infinity

Oh, by the way, a play on the word "information" in formation, as in a particle/form to be. :)

RE: Infinity

I'm not against science, far from it.Moreover,I respect science very much and I respect the people of science,
I wanted to become a professional scientist myself, but
I found myself more drawn to the fields of philosophy which, nonetheless,is strongly connected to what science discovers. When I assert that we won't ever find the last particle I mean exactly that there is no such thing as 'the particle of God' which can't be devided but there is undevideable no-form energy - unmaterial in-formation like you said(i.e. inside formation),the very Uni-Verse of the Cause of all causes, the Reason of all reasons - the Idea of what we call God.Thus, the Bible put it right in the very beginning of Genesis but it just uses a plain language just the one a rocket scientist would use to only try to explain his work to a layman.
And what the Bible means by saying that there was Word in the Beginning is that the foundation of the material reality is In-formation and the reality itself is Formation.
I recommend you the book by Gooding and Lennox,it will explain what I mean. You should read it.

RE: Infinity

I will read these books. I understand we are speaking probably semantics, as they say. I like your view on indivisibility. On another example, I always had a problem when science depicted mitosis as (Wiki): Mitosis and cytokinesis together define the mitotic (M) phase of the cell cycle - the division of the mother cell into two daughter cells, genetically identical to each other and to their parent cell.

The mother cell does not divide, she multiplies.

Yes, this quest for the ultimate can be akin to finding the last nuance of a person, only to miss the bigger picture of who he or she is. Linear physics is like linear time, you just don't really know what came first.

Quite reasonable discourse,Mario.
What's your background?

RE: Infinity

I'm mainly a poet, scriptwriter, musical composer, painter, and videographer; also having a passion for all things science as a researcher. What of yourself?

RE: Infinity

I'm a University student,a poet, philosopher, like to question everything till no questions left for me to ask but it never happens - fortunately.
I'm 21 year old,live in Russia.You?

I live in the USA, and I too love to question things to "almost" no end. I am twice your age. Good to see you are motivated about philosophy and science. I've been interested since the age of 6, or so.

RE: Infinity

I'm afraid you don't know what you are talking about. Georg Cantor developed a coherent theory of transfinite (infinite) numbers in the 19th century. There are in fact infinitely many distinct transfinite numbers. So, in a very real sense, there are indeed " infinite" numbers.

As to whether the universe is infinite or not, that is an empirical question. And your arguments against that possibility are rife with fallacies borne of you ignorance of Cantor's work.

In most fields it is customary to gain a modicum of knowledge about a subject before one starts one's pontifications. I guess you may be unfamiliar with such nicities.

The effect of your ignorance should be of interest, however, for what you havr done is write sheer hogwash.

How embarrassing.

RE: Infinity

Oh, really, so does that mean you will stand here until infinity counting those infinite numbers, just to make sure they really are infinite? You are both rude and full of it yourself!

RE: Infinity

We cannot see beyond the horizon of the known universe. Perhaps this is because the horizon is expending faster than the speed of light and no light reaches us from beyond the horizon. If this is the case then the unverse could be much bigger than we know and perhaps indeed infinite. Who Knows?
