#30 looks dangerous

#30 looks dangerous! I mean it looks like it incorporates the windows logo in it! Can you do that?

RE: RE: #30 looks dangerous

I find it a bit suspicious that its such a run away. I'm curious if some folks haven't recast their ballots several times over. Anyone have any thoughts on how to prove it?

Yes, very strange. Such a high score when there is a lot of really good competition. I am a bit worried about our legal standpoint with this one too.

RE: #30 looks dangerous

Well,

it is as close to m$'s logo as it is to the Jamaican national flag...

After all if it instills thoughts about their product it is somehow publicity for them...

just my 2cents

RE: #30 looks dangerous

It doesn't look dangerous.

I voted for it, I suspect many others did for a similar reason - It incorporates colours and ideas from the Java and windows logos in an original way and more importantly it is well executed. It is also the most identifiable of all the logos - simple, bright and clear.

I think you will find that trademarks are very tightly defined and are not broad. The only legal protection that a trademark provides is against impersonation - for instance if you called your product Lindows 2000 and used a similar logo to windows 2000 then that would be taken as impersonation and action taken.

There is no danger of this in any of the logos on the page.

RE: #30 looks dangerous

Personally I liked #30 best, but I didn't vote for it because of the Windows logo (almost) being in it. I think POI is ****ing MicroSoft off enought with the Poor in the name :) The fact is that people think of the Windows logo when they see #30 (Or else it wouldn't be so far ahead), and that could be enough in court, should it go so far :( Too bad, because I loved it :)

RE: #30 looks dangerous

#30 is the worst of the lot! Not only does it reference existing logos of other orgs., that is all there is to it. I really find it very boring and commonplace. The tiki stuff is much better and more original!

Besides, Microsoft is evil - you might accidentally invoke a demon or something!
