pain--side of foot ??

Has anyone experienced this or know what it may be? I have pain on the outer side of my foor, I don't think it's a heel spur b/c it's on the side. I am running the NYC Marathon (4 wks!) & I can barely walk on my foot, any ideas would be great!! thanks.

RE: pain--side of foot ??

could be plantar fasciitis. i was diagnosed with it when i had pain through the outstep of my foot. as for the marathon, i ran one on my plantar faciitis foot, and it was an incredibly painful experience. i then had physical therapy for three months. that was a few years ago, and i still get occasional flare-ups. you're just going to have to decide whether it's worth it to run the marathon, or if you'd rather heal first and try again another time.

Thanks for the response. Since that post I went to a podiatrist who said I had tendinitis from overuse. I had a cortizone patch, which has helped, hopefully this will not be a painful marathon!! thanks again.

RE: pain--side of foot ??

Pain on the outside of the foot could be tendonitis of the Peroneus Brevis muscle. It could come from inverting your foot, twisting it, and you might also have a mild ankle sprain which could result in there being tenderness at the "anterior talo-fibular ligament" in front of your ankle.

Your podiatrist can examine this area.
