The Original & The BEST!

Wow, look at those numbers. It is no contest. Why is it people so overwhelmingly prefer the original Law & Order? Let's get talking on this.

My opinion is that SVU is very uncomfortable to watch. Every week, another sex crime victim. I think people get tired of that topic after awhile. CI? I can't just warm up to the characters. But no matter what, i will stop whatever i am doing and sit and watch the good old original L&O. What does everyone else think?

RE: The Original & The BEST!

I'm with you, the original is the best and I never miss it. It's on right now so I'll make my msg. short and sweet. McCoy is my man but I enjoyed Jamie as the ADA the best but I'll get used to the others, I'm sure. Liked Adam Shift too but see he has been replaced. I can't get the new local channel because of our location but love the re-runs. Thanks for picking it up from A&E, they let a good show go. judy

You just can't beat Law & Order. The writing, and the story lines, are tremendous!!! And it keeps you glued to the set just to find out one more personal tidbit of knowledge about Jack McCoy.

RE: The Original & The BEST!

Question: Did Jack and Clair have something going on? Last night i was watching the one where Jamie sets Jack up on a date with a friend, and she makes a point of saying "She said you brought up Clair Kincaid" and Jack becomes defensive. Did i miss something?

RE: The Original & The BEST!

Well, it seems like all agree that Jack McCoy is #1 in most women't eyes and I most certainly agree. My hubby says his hair is never combed right but I just told him that the little piece always hanging on his forehead is an added feature to his sex appeal. Also, Clare Kincaid and Jack did have a thing going. Can you blame her? Thanks for the input, glad I'm not the only one that finds Jack interesting. I love teasing my hubby about him.

RE: The Original & The BEST!

Ok, of the ADA's, Jack certainly IS the #1 choice. And your hubby is RIGHT about his hair! LOL... and sometimes he looks downright drunk, like when he's in court and someone on the witness stand says something stupid to incriminate themselves. You know that look I am talking about? Where he steadies himself on the table and shakes his head, looks at the floor then looks at the witness like he's trying to focus his eyes?? It's hysterical!

But hands down winner overall has to be Benjamin Bratt. Gorgeous... i would love to see him in an actual police uniform.

Why the original Law & Order? Has to be Waterston. He is phenomenal!!!

RE: The Original & The BEST!

You have that right Karen, I know the looks you mean. I sure hope he doesn't leave the show. As far as the other shows I agree that it is boring and morbid to continuously watch sex crimes. The original "Law and Order" is the BEST!

RE: The Original & The BEST!

I was watching some tapes of older L&O at a friends house, the ones with Ben Stone. How did we ever stand that guy? (We probably put up with him because we hadn't seen Jack McCoy yet!) He sure could be pompus. Although, he had one of the funniest lines when he said "I'm Catholic, sir. I can feel guilty about anything"!! Still, he had a very aloof way about him. Jack is much more multi-faceted.

RE: RE: The Original & The BEST!

Ben Stone wasn't too bad Karen. But, McCoy was raised Catholic too and in the re-run I'm watching now he wants the death penalty for a cop-killer. Hard not to agree since my hubby was once a cop, but, being a hard-core Catholic myself, with one son a priest, I disagree but I do agree with life without parole and that, I believe is the answer to it all and they can raise my taxes to pay for the new prisons as long as they keep them behind bars. Having my hubby out on the street night after night wasn't pleasant at all and he came very close to losing his life and we had six small kids. Just pray they keep them off the streets for good, that would satisfy me. Hope you don't mind my speaking out.

RE: The Original & The BEST!

My heart goes out to you Judy, my 19 yr old daughter in in college right now studying criminal justice. She has wanted to be a police officer since she was very young, something i prayed that she would grow out of. She is also a firefighter for our city and an EMT as well. I am so very very proud of her that in her life she will be the person who is there when others are in need. But... the fear... i am sure you know what i mean!

RE: The Original & The BEST!

It's that Waterston guy! He is great, and attacks his part with such passion. No one else can compare. I'm crazed enough to do the L&O marathons!

FYI, I wrote the L&O Production Dept. and asked for an autographed photo of Sam. I brought it into my law firm and all the girls/ladies went crazy, so he now adorns our law firm wall for all to enjoy.

RE: The Original & The BEST!

You should be proud Karen, someone has to get out there and do it. I sewed when my hubby was on the street, made all my girls clothes in a hurry so I wouldn't have time to think but then I gave in to trusting God and saying more prayers. That is what I should have done first, I know that now. Anyway, he was hurt once and then hurt in a fall on duty and broke his back and they put him on disibility. I am so glad because he had only been on the force 10 yrs. when that happened and he had 15 to go. He had three surgeries till one doc did it right and we're happy now.

RE: The Original & The BEST!

It is Sam that makes the show for women I guess, Trudy. However, I've watched all of them before him too. So I guess I'd watch it no matter what, but Sam is my favorite. Where did you write to in order to get that autographed picture of Sam? I want one! I'll bet Karen would want one of those too.

RE: The Original & The BEST!

Heheheh... thanks for thinking of me too Judy But what i'd really like to see.... is Rey Curtis... in uniform! I think they did one episode where for some reason they were in uniform... can't even recall why, because at the time i thought it made no sense but at the same time thought WHO CARES! There is nothing finer than the sight of a good looking cop in a good looking uniform. When my then-boyfriend was promoted to detective, i was happy for him, but knew i would miss the sight of him in his uniform. Of course, he didn't look anything like Det. Curtis either!
