Do you have a better name for NPs?

Thanks for taking part in this poll - please leave your suggestion for an alternative name for NPs here:

Independent GP seems popular but does it not suggest "Private " GP, i.e. Non NHS. Whilst some of us may be working solely/predominantly within the private sector, I'm sure the majority are still within the NHS.

RE: Do you have a better name for NPs?

I agree. Independant GP tends rather to suggest 'non-NHS'. Sure in some respects gp locums are not necessarily fully NHS but I think the term independant would cause confusion. Also as an ex principal GP (14 years) I left the NHS as aprincipal; partly because I felt my independance was steadily being eroded. All GPs are by their nature to a degree somewhat independant.
I do not see what is so very wrong with Locum General Practitioner myself!

Dear Richard-why limit to GP? Why not sessional Doctor-this would draw in those who do assistant hospital sessions/associate specialists/GPs with special interests. General Practitioner has always seemed to me a particul;arly meaningless term in any case and could refer to anybody who practices, generally!!!!

Having become a whatever we are going to be called by escaping from the cheating, lying and backstabbing of the murderous c**** (my previous partners)and the insane antics of the bureaucratic morons of the NHS management, how about "Holocaust Survivor"?

I vote for sessional GP. Because this really covers all the options and is a good description - many 'associates/assistants' are not freelance or 'independant'

cheers
