Why I think NYC will get it, even tho I live in SF

1. The TV sale factor. An Eastern time zone trumps a western time zone insofar as TV income. Remember the $1.5 billion dollar NBC is over for the 2012 Games.

2. NYC has a more compact plan than SF's. And having a few sports in Flushing Meadows is a great setting.

3. None of the main events are really being held in San Francisco proper. It's just the IOC hotel and secondary sports like fencing, ping-pong, judo, etc. So, even the marathons will begin and end in Palo Alto, NOT San Francisco. Whereas nearly all of New York's venues are within the confines of the 5 boroughs.

4. Well, the mayor of Rome said that 'other cities should cede the honor if NYC bids.' Regardless of whether he keeps his word or not, duh...?

5. Weather..schmeather. Since when has the weather been a deciding factor? Barcelona? Los Angeles? Atlanta? Beijing? Athens? Gimme a break.

6. A Summer Games has never been held in the U.S. Northeast.

But hey, if the Games come to the Bay Area, I won't complain. Something to stick to the SF Board of Supervisors.
