Equestrian, too rich to be true

Truly international? Accessible to all? COME ON! Equestrian is just a big fair for the rich, a podium for salesmen. And how about the costs for the organizers and the NOC'S? Let's get rid of elitism.

RE: Equestrian, too rich to be true

Equestian is the only sport where a man and an animal work together to reach perfection, its the only sport where man and women compete together and is a sport with a high visual appeal.
Many nations around the world and on many continent have strong tradition linked to horses.
It is correct that some of the best horses are expensive and it is maybe fair to compare these amounts with the costs of bringing athletes of other sports to the highest level (those costs are supported by national federations or by some government but in the equestrian sport those costs are supported by the riders sometime and by sponsors most of the time)
I believe that the times when a real amateur could win a gold medal are gone for ever and that the importance of a high level of financial investment in the final result of a sport is not questionable.
This is just my point of view.
Best regards
Andy
