The defense gave us a chance but our play calling on offense was again terrible. Hey Randy, when you bring Banks into the game opposing teams know what you are going to do. Either give it to the RB or Banks drops back for 3 seconds then takes off. He is a Freshmen. Give him a chance. How about more screen passes and the quick out passes. And try lining up with no back in the back field and spread the offense. Banks can be your RB if no other option presents itself. This will give the young QB less pressure, more options, and it will allow him to take off and get more yards when no receiver is open. |

Why bother to put Banks in to hand off or run for his life? He needs game experience. Who knows how severe Clausen's current injury is? The defense played tremendously, especially considering two starters, Peace and Miles were out after the first quarter. |

Look at the rest of college football, they make plays, mix it up. Even the worst teams throw the ball downfield. The wide receiver screen worked when we had a dominate receiver, give it up now. We are not winning games now so its easy to see how boring, predictable, and terrible our offense is but when you look back, our offense has sucked since the 98 national champinonship game. It looks like Johnny Majors ball out there. We will be punting on 3rd down soon. Randy, have you ever watched other college teams play, OPEN IT UP, MAKE THE GAME FUN AT LEAST. |
| Posted By: Carrier Posted On: Nov 11, 2002 Views: 302 | RE: Randy Sanders: Here's a tip for you The only job that Randy Sanders should have with the Volunteers is to be a tackling dummy!!!! I think that (considering the injury factor) the defense looked great against the most explosive offense in the NCAA. I said before that Tennessee has to mix up the run and pass, and run as much time off the clock as possible on offense so that our defense wouldn't have to stay on the field. What did our offense do besides score 1 FG and punt for the rest of the night. It should have been no problem for Tennessee to score a TD after that Houston 74 yarder. If I were the OC I would know that the defense was expecting run so I would've ran a play action pass to the open side of the field. What did Randy Sanders do? He gave it to the worst tailback on the team to run right into a tackler. I'm tired of seeing Jabari Davis miss all the holes that the line opens for him he sucks and I don't care how many big runs he's had. He can't run consistantly like Houston. Get rid of Sanders, Fulmer!!!! And you better do it quick before people stop defending you and want your job also!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Posted By: Joe Posted On: Nov 11, 2002 Views: 255 | RE: Randy Sanders: Here's a tip for you Who on the Tennessee offense is smoking crack? From the way they have been doing this year someone is. Who it is is another question. Naturally, you want to start with Randy Sanders since he's "supposed" to be the one calling the plays. I want to know if he's using a play sheet or a Post-It-Note. You can only run the ball up the middle so many times before the other teams' defense figures out what you're going to do. Next you take a look at the players. There have been injuries by the truckload for the Vols this year. Not a normal thing, but in years past when a key player has gotten hurt, there has always been someone just as good if not better who has stepped in and kept things going. So are the players this year not as good as in years past? It's hard to say, but if they have even a shred of talent the coaching staff should be able to cultivate that into something useful for the team. Which leads to the last thing to look at....the Head Coach. Philip Fulmer was pretty much a savior for UT Football when he took over after Majors finally left. He came in and turned a stagnating football program around. Unfortunately, stagnation seems to be setting in again and Fulmer better wake up and see what's going on or he could go the way of Johnny Majors. His style of play is already there. You can't be conservative in today's college football games. You have to make things happen and quit standing around picking your nose hoping that they will. This three plays and kick the ball crap won't work. One more thing is that there doesn't seem to be a team attitude this year. When Peyton Manning was playing, the weight of the world was put on his shoulders and in big game situations, they couldn't get it done. Look at 1998, the season after Peyton left. UT won the National Title because there weren't any "superstars" on the team. It was a TEAM effort. This year, right out of the gate, Kelly Washington starts showboating after catching piddly diddly five yard passes and acting like he just scored a TD. Casey Clausen seems to be more concerned about his hair style than throwing the ball. Who cuts his hair, a landscaper with a weedeater? The point is this. There seems to be more of a "me" attitude instead of a "we" attitude on this year's team. Kinda makes you wonder what the locker room is like. |
| Posted By: CARRIER Posted On: Nov 12, 2002 Views: 242 | RE: Randy Sanders: Here's a tip for you What is going on in the locker room is this: coach Fulmer is cuddlig his team instead of laying down the law. He needs to Fire Sanders. You can't expect a quarterback to be good if his coach was never a good QB. You also can't expect an offense to do much if they have to run the same plays over and over. It's no wonder the opposing defenses can shut down the Tennessee offense. Hey my hat goes off to John Chavious and his defense. look at all of the injuries they have and how long they were on the field. They were very tired because the offense couldn't produce anything but punts. Look at how they played. They held the nations #1 offense to field goals. Sure Miami scored 2 touchdowns, but look at how many times their drives paid off with either 0 or 3 instead of 7. If Randy Sanders could call a game then maybe the offense could've came out and scored TD's and helped the Big-D out a little. But that wasn't an option with the offensive coordinator that we have so the defense got no help and played very well with its injuries!!!! So I say Injuries are no longer and excuse it is all on Randy Sanders shoulders now!!! |
