| Posted By: Carrier Posted On: Apr 23, 2003 Views: 450 | QB coach Everyone likes to pont fingers at Clausen because he is the QB, but look at his first two seasons they were pretty impressive. Last season he didn't play well, but he didn't have the type of protetion from the line that he requires. Also no one stepped up to catch the ball except for Witten and Washington. Washington got hurt and Witten's receptions fell from last season. You have to look at the coaching before looking at the players. Sanders is the QB coach. Why would you hire someone to coach quarterbacks at a high caliber school like TN who was never a good QB when he played there. Sanders was for most part a bench warmer. And now he runs the offense and coaches a QB who was already better than him before he got to Tennessee. Clausen would've been better off if he coached himself. I'm telling you Tennessee needs to make an offer to another OC/QB coach. If Fulmer doesn't want to fire Sanders as Offensive coordinator then at least get a high caliber QB coach so the QB will know how to fix Sanders mistakes on the field. Heath Schuler isn't doing much of anything these days we should make him and offer at least he made it to the NFL. |

You said that the protection was not that good for Clausen. Ok, it was below average per TN standards. But the bigger problem here was running up the middle twice then throwing a bomb down field, then punting. That happened so many times. Witten did catch fewer passes, because fewer were thrown his way. I say put Randy back upstairs in the boothe where he can se what is going on. |

The only game that has actually looked good since Sanders took over for Cutcliff is the rose bowl against Michigan. I think that you have realize though that Travis Stephens, Casey Clausen,Donte Stallworth, Kelley Washington, and Jason Witten were all on the field at the same time. Sanders could have called a stupid play and still got positive yardage against the below average Mighigan team. Sanders just needs to go home. |
