Fuel for thoughts

First of all, please don't judge my comment on the quality of my english, as english is not my mother tongue.

Some people have expressed their opinion about this site, even if their arguments were not very well constructed, and as far as I can tell, they have been flamed at for disagreeing with the author's view. Not really what I call open minded.

For my part, I started reading some of this stuff, only to find out that the author changes his mind along the way. For example:

In "Where did the universe come from?", the author says that the universe is "an infinite eternal unchanging nothing that has always existed and has always contained a finite but unbounded closed universe that constantly changes but is itself eternal". So he's saying that the universe is eternal.

Now, in "Our final destiny, immortals?", to which there is a link to on the above cited page by the way, he starts by saying just the opposite: "The universe will come to and end at some point, one way or the other, it is not eternal". It's plain to see that the author changed his mind between the two writings.

To me, this just sounds like someone who enjoys writing things on the heat of the moment if I can say so. He enjoys the sound of what he writes, and tries to cover it with pseudo scientific language.

As someone dared mention in his comment, what credential does this author have ? What other papers has he written ?

Here's what I could find on www.authorhouse.com: "Keith Mayes has been a dedicated amateur astronomer for the past 45 years and it is his fascination with the distant stars and galaxies that has led him to the study of cosmology and physics". Would the author please tell us where he studied those ? I mean, if he expects us to give any credibility to his book/writings, shouldn't he come forward with it right on his home page ?

That pertty much sums up how I feel abot this site and its contents.

Luc

RE: Fuel for thoughts

If you feel that way then why read it?
I did not change my mind. I said the Universe is eternal. I explained this by saying it will end in either a heat death or in the Big Crunch. If the later it will create another Big Bang so the universe will continue. However it will not be the universe we now live in, that will be destroyed in the process, it will be a reformed new universe, which is why as a universe it is eternal, but each one comes to an end. There is no contradiction there, you have simply misunderstood what I wrote and jumped to conclusions.

RE: Fuel for thoughts

Where's your book Luc? How about instead of accusing Keith of being an inconsistent, amateur author you go write your own book. See how you like all the critics then.

Take his writings for what they are. If they do not fit your high standards, then visit another site or source. In my opinion Keith has done a commendable job with his site and book. Thanks Keith.

-"88% of all accusations are false."

Now that statistic is gotta be wrong!

RE: Fuel for thoughts

Kev and Mr. Mayes, you just proved his first point: people who disagree get flamed. Other than that, i believe his points to be invalid. I think that if someone doesn't like what he sees on this site, just GO AWAY and LEAVE EVERYONE ELSE IN PEACE. I think this site rocks.
