It's now 2017

I can't believe that it is now 13 years, almost to the day, that the first comment was posted on my site. Times change and message boards are out of fashion now, this one has not been used in years, but people still email me. I am very pleased to report that I have managed to reply to every email I have been sent.
A lot has happened over the last 13 years, if you are interested I have outlined the major events in the first thread made, titled OMG.
I was diagnosed with Advanced Prostate Cancer in December 2008 and given 6 months to live. The Advanced part means the cancer has spread from its origin in the prostate to other parts of my body. Luckily for me it has stayed in the bones because once it gets into the organs there is precious little time left. Thanks to the work of the NHS and my oncologist and advances in cancer treatment I am still doing okay, I still have quality of life even though I cannot travel. I still do my astronomy and have seriously upgraded my kit. A computer now moves my telescope to the object I scroll down to on the hand set, and if I wish I can view it on my laptop. I also now take digital photos of the galaxies, stars and planets, a million times better than my previous old film photos.
I am delighted that over 3,000 exoplanets have now been discovered, with more every week, which means the chances of finding life out there has dramatically increased.
Life is good, even at get age of71.

Greetings Keith.
Just want to let you know I still keep your book in my day bag and browse it frequently. Thanks for writing it. I sincerely hope you are doing well and that your health is improving, or at least bearable. Best wishes.

RE: It's now 2017

Hi Jerry,
Good of you to contact me. I am doing not too badly all things considered and still manage to get some observing done through my telescope. I have started to build up a nice collection of astronomical photographs I have taken, my favourites being the Orion Nebula and the Andromeda Galaxy.
My oncologist has told me I still have a few more years left in me yet, so not too bad, after all I am now age 72!
I am booked for a special flight in December from my local airport, Norwich, Norfolk, to see the Aurora Boreallis, hopefully. A two hour flight to a good area well inside the Arctic Circle, complete with a professional astronomer giving information on what is happening. Fingers crossed! I have wanted to see it all my life and this flight is the only way I can physically manage it, and that's pushing things a bit. My wife discovered the flight and booked it as a surprise. I have to admit that when she told me I was quite emotional, I had completely given up on ever seeing it.
I am so glad you enjoyed my book and still have it, that's good to hear.
I hope you are also keeping well and enjoying life.
Feel free to email me if you want to chat about anything, you're always welcome to.
Thank you for contacting me, a great pleasure and surprise.
Regards
Keith
