Covid-19

It’s now March 2020 and the Covid-19 virus is spreading around the world having begun in China where it is now under control.
The government here in the UK is making unprecedented laws, restricting us to our homes, closings pubs, clubs, restaurants, cinemas, gyms and so on. All sports fixtures and concerts banned. They are throwing tons of money around as if it is going out of fashion.
Very worrying times.
Today I woke up with a sore throat and don’t feel good. Looks like typical first symptoms, but time will tell.
I am in the high risk category being age 74 and having cancer, as is my wife who is 7 years younger and also with cancer, diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago and a successful operation.
I have and estimated 1 in 10 chance of it being fatal.
I will keep posting as long as I am able, if this comes to an end then you know I didn’t make it.
Keep well.

RE: Covid-19

I am now fully recovered and assume I was only suffering from a regular winter cold and sore throat bug but without being tested I do not know if I had Covid-19.
This dreadful pandemic is claiming so many lives all around the world and there is increasing suspicion that China has been covering up the real extent of their Covid-19 deaths and even that the virus may have escaped from their high security biolab at the Wuhan Institute of Virology where they have been testing the coronavirus. Hell of a coincidence the lab is only 8 miles from the infamous and hideous wet market that China blamed it on!
We are now in the fourth week of lockdown and it has been extended to mid-May.

One of our two little dogs, Bichon Maltese, died two days ago aged 12. She has always been, and was, in perfect health. She developed what showed every symptom of being regular kennel cough, text book cough which was considerably eased with a small teaspoon of honey. After three days she appeared to improve but that night developed rapid breathing, really fast panting. I took her to the vet first thing in the morning. After examination and X-ray they suspected kennel cough plus it had caused a throat infection and congestion in her lungs. They gave her a shot of antibiotics and a week’s supply of antibiotic tablets and said we should see an improvement within 24 hours. That night she was even worse and really struggling with her breathing, I knew I would need to phone the vet first thing in the morning.
Come the morning she was still as bad, asked to be lifted up to snuggle next to me on the settee, made a few strange throat noise and then died there and then.
We will never know what it was, the vet could only say that clearly she had something very bad going on inside her, nothing to do with the kennel cough.

I know this may sound daft but she gave all the appearance of dying of the Covid-19 virus and it has been reported that dogs have died with it.
I buried her in the back garden.
