FF4 against FF5 FF4 dont let's you choose witch character u want in your party... and it change them always when u where starting to like a char. FF5 in the other hand dont let u change the chars at all, but u are always with the same 4. But they are customisable.. u like spellcasting? fine, go for a party with 4 wizards... u like swords? fine, make a ninja a samurai a knight and a magic knight. So in that way i think ff5 is better. |

FF5 is a lot like FF8 - dry atmosphere, mediocre music, and a lot of needless tinkering. Because 99% of winning the game is understanding the job system, the first time through is an interesting challenge, but subsequent playthroughs are unendurably easy. Since FF4 uses more of a "make do with the party you're given" dynamic, and is filled with memorable characters and music, I can actually play it a 2nd/3rd/10th time and still have it be fun and challenging. Ironically, it's primitiveness makes it a better game. |

Okay, I think that all FF V had going for it was the job system - every other aspect of the game sucked. The music sucked, the storyline sucked, the dungeons sucked, the monsters sucked, everything sucked!! But the job system was pretty cool. FF 4 also had its flaws, including the inability to customize characters, so-so music, and a storyline that can only be described as "ehhhh". So what it comes doen to is this: FF V's job system vs. an imperfect but balanced game. The winner: FF 4, no question. |
