All RPGs Should end in suicide.

Nothing would warm my heart like the graphic suicide of many main characters of games I HAVE played. A dark past-internal conflict character, ending in suicide would be the best possible mix.

RE: All RPGs Should end in suicide.

lol, I know what you mean :)

The ending of lufia 2 is what I think really makes an ending, people dying and throwing parties for people who will never be able to attend, mwhwa ha ha ha ha. :)

That an exile, like the ending of fall out 1 :P

Its the endings that really make you think, or are at least different fromt eh mainstream "Hey look we've saved the world/princess, lets all go home and have some ale!" type endings.

RE: All RPGs Should end in suicide.

Yah, I love a realistic ending..Some times the good guy doesnt win. Some times the sicko bad guys get the last laugh....
That would be a refreshing twist, I'v gotten so usedto all the candyland crap that I dont even get worried when the main charector is in danger, cu he always comes out winning in the end.......But FF9's ending got me and my cousin crying(assumeing you know what I'm talkin about, I dont wana spoil it 4 any one..if you dont know you better find out, ff9 was almost as good as ff7...not replay wise....)...

Well, Chrono trigger has 12 different endings.
So you can take your pick of those.

FFX has a ending you might like

BTW: If u watch anime, watch the series Neon Genesis Evangelion.
That will really get you down. Watch Serial Experiments Lain as well.

I would agree that endings need to be more realistic. And I do watch some anime and almost all of the really good ones have realistic endings. Cowboy Bebop, X, and Akira to name some of them.

Cowboy Bebop had had a great ending! The whole series fit together bit by bit and the ending was the final peice of the puzzle. If games could have quality plots/hardcoreness/humor like cowboy bebop, I would be in heaven!

RE: All RPGs Should end in suicide.

I personally didn't like Cowboy Bebop, at least Season 2. It got all down to Earth, drag your ass across the ground kinda weird crap you see in nightmares. The music is pretty good. The ending of Bebop made me change the channel, and forget about the series I watched. I'm now into Inu-Yasha (Pretty Bish Dog Boy! ^_^), Cowboy Bebop was an ok anime though. I just didn't like the weirdness of the close to last episodes of Season 1, such as that weird arse shemale just ending up dying. Who the hell was s/he? We never really got to find out the personality and other such things. I could never really feel for any of the characters, I never felt I was sitting down with them. Strangely enough, I get all tense and uppity everytime Ashram and Parn clash swords in Record of Lodoss War.... guess I'm just a fan of fantasy types.

RE: All RPGs Should end in suicide.

Well it's ridiculous to say that ALL RPGs should end in suicide, though perhaps all should have an alternate ending rather than the usual happy one. There are many people out there who just like a simple story with a basic beginning, dramatic middle, and happy ending. You can't please everyone, but I think the basis is not the ending, but how you develop the characters along the way. Kefka is such a ****ing kickass bad guy in every way. He is the kind that MADE you hate him, but in a good way. Not the kind of bad guy that you just want to disapear, but the kind that you actually wanted to see on screen, or made you feel something when they came to ruin whatever plans your heros had. Every time you hear Kefka's theme or laugh in FF3/6 you would always go "oh damn not again", but you loved it anyway. I loved it how he got more and more insane as the story progressed, and the part where (spoiler) Ghestal dies and he throws the body off the floating island is just awesome. (spoiler) I'm working on a fantasy story myself, and I plan to have 3 of the 5 main characters die, while the others are forced into exile because of what happens in the story. It is made good because of the story, and you should never be pleased when a good character dies, it should mean something, but you shouldn't be happy because the character was an idiot (Chrono, not that he dies but god i wanted him to) Edgar and Locke are also awesome characters, ones that you actually cared about, while in some other RPGs, FF7 for example, I didn't really care for any of the good guys and just wanted Sepiroth to kick all their asses. (I totally marked out for the Aeries thing)
