Two, it wasn't that great a game to begin with. The only reason it's so popular is because it was the first Final Fantasy for the Playstation, the first Final Fantasy to have pointless 3D graphics that do nothing but make it look pretty and the first Playstation game to span multiple discs. The game itself, however, was .. meh. Enjoyable, to say the least. Well, technically that's the most I think of it. |

In my playstation magazine (PSM), Square said they are going to see how FFX-2 does,financially, and then they will start a sequel to FF7. But they have already thought up that they were going to reunite the group (AVALANCHE). So Timethewarrior, your hopes have been answered and so have mine!! |

I'm pretty sure most of this is said without any reason. Often when I ask this question, people that declare me a "newb" say simply, 'because they suck' with no reasons for it. I would like to know why some would think this game, and the other recent FF games suck, and the earlier ones are so much better. |

I haven't beaten it yet, but it seems like a damn good game to me. I think I like VI a little better solely b/c I prefer Fantasy to Science Fiction, but Sephiroth is definitely one of the best RPG villains of all time. From what I heard, the ending didn't really rap anything up... alot of people weren't even sure if the characters lived or not, and I would personally love to see a sequel. As for hating 3D graphic games, I don't think graphics are absolutely necessary, but I have no complaints about them. Once they have a good plot and cool characters, the makers are free to make the game LOOK as cool as they like. Technically, I started out playing nothing but NES and second addition Dungeons and Dragons, so graphics aren't a big deal to me, but they're still nice. My two cents, ~Sylvan~ |

Every one has a theory but there is no one true ending. Reguardless of FF7's ending, the FF7 sequal could be FF7 with a twist, such as Zack being alive, playing from sephiroth or shinra's point of view, focusing only on the battle agianst shinra and destroying all the mako-reactors, playing Clouds childhood, Aeris stays alive, or playing as each charector individialy(If they didnt bother to join Avelanche), or totaly exclued sephiroth(Such as Avalanche never destroyes the second reactor so sephiroth isnt revived) and focus on the love triangle between Cloud, Tifa and Aeris. It would rock if they modded up FF7 with new graphics(3D world), features, magic, harder enemies, items, weapons and then added all the other ideas as add on modes when you beat the game....but I doubt it will ever happen...:-P |

To the person who asks why people think the earlier Final Fantasy games are better than the newer 3D ones, I give this list of reasons: 1. Long FMVs and 20-minute long summons. If I wanted to watch movies, I'd rent one of those instead. If I wanted to play a movie, I would've bought a CD-i. 2. The 3D graphics do absolutely NOTHING for the game. The entire thing could've been done with 2D graphics and still come out pretty much exactly the same. Especially since you're moving on pre-renderred backgrounds. 3. They spent more time on flashy graphics and making it look pretty than they did refining the storylines and characters. There are a grand total of 2 multi-dimensional characters in FF7. Sure, we get a bit of back story into the others, but they remain one-dimensional. 4. Storylines becoming more and more cliched and convoluted. Somehow I don't think requiring a PhD in psychology makes a game more fun. Nor does re-using the same storyline multiple times. There's probably a few others, but this is getting a tad long as it is. |

Your complaint that they used tired and old storylines is a new one to me. I've heard before that the new storylines were too different from the old ones. The original Final Fantasy tradition had been abandoned. But I like these new games considerably better. But I guess it's all a matter of perspective. |

I believe that a sequel to FF7 would be bad, unless you could play as sephiroth as TIMTHEWARRIOR777 mentioned. But as for 3D graphics making a game bad, that is totally false. The characters have a wider enviornment to move around in because it is in 3 dimensions. I honestly do not care if the graphics look like they do now, or if they looked like they did on the snes, as long as the characters get developed, and the storyline flows and is good. But how did blowing up the second reactor revive Sephiroth? |
