Go US.

i think that this war is a great thing. and any of you D A M N hippies who think "peace not war" can go screw themselves. Peace has never solved anything... EVER. God kicked Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden because they did wrong... Saddam did wrong so, the US is kicking him out. thats it...quit your bitchin let it happen you pot-smoking, tree hugging, wife sharing hippies.

RE: Go US.

You're a little bit too enthusiastic about this war thing. I completely believe that it is a justified thing, but I wish it could have been avoided. On the other hand your assessment of the tree-hugging, pot-smoking hippies couldn't possibly be more accurate. For some reason, they don't BELIEVE it when every government official that has access to the information says that Iraq still has banned weapons hidden somewhere. Where could this lack of belief stem from? Do they assume that because the president they voted for was never honest in all his years as president that all presidents are liars??

RE: RE: Go US.

This war is totally justified. I respect ALL armed forces who serve this country, however, I am true believer that if we did not PROACTIVELY take care of this now, we would be in the next year or so. We will also need to solve issues with other Middle Eastern countries as well as North Korea. But, the US will solve all of these issues in due time.

RE: Go US.

Peace never solved anything?

Remember the civil rights movement a mere 50 years ago? And suffragettes before that?

Solved a lot, quite peacefully.

Of course, it cannot always do so. I don't think it would have worked with Iraq. So, GO U.S.!!!!

(But let's not be stupid about it)

RE: Go US.

If you honestly think that the civil rights movement was 'peaceful', then you are officially the stupidest person that has ever figured out how to use the internet. Ask some people that lived in Mississippi or Alabama back then how 'peaceful' it was.

Mr. "Rose", I presume?

Sad that you would be so ignorant as to assume that only "pot smoking, tree-hugging" hippies are the sole members of society questioning President Bush's motives for the pre-emptive strike on Iraq...particularly considering your handle, Mr. "Rose". As a taxpaying, voting, educated American, I am proud to live in a country where I can filter the propaganda, speak my mind, and make informed decisions based on both my conscience and the burdens of proof available to me. Making blanket, name-calling statements (or agreeing with those who make them) about the types of American citizens who oppose this war reveals your short-sightedness and your close-mindedness. Nothing you have said thus far on tOdd's forum (this thread or elsewhere) has made a convincing argument on your behalf. I'm sure the administration and the pap media would be thrilled to know their rhetoric is working.

RE: Go US.

you know.. k.b. im gonna have to go with chuck rose on this one. i think Chuck has done a fine job of expressing his views and his beliefs. why dont you just back off, slow down and maybe use some words that the rest of us can understand. if you want us to see your side of things, dont use big words... it just dun did not work like that.

RE: Go US.

Alright, KB. I apologize that you feel I have not made even one convincing argument. I'll make a few now, just for you. You are, as an American, free to have your own opinion in the end, but here is why your current opinion is wrong. The current Iraqi regime is a threat to Americans everywhere, particularly those living abroad. ANY regime that possesses weapons of mass destruction, hates America and YOUR way of life, has shown aggression in the past, has deceived and shunned international authorities, and has no respect for any human life (even their own countrymen) needs to be toppled. One job of the American government is to protect its citizens. You even referred to the war in Iraq as a "pre-emptive" measure. If there is no danger, then why do you refer to it as pre-emptive. "pre" what?? Would you prefer that we take the Afghanistan approach and wait til Americans or Israelis or British citizens start to die? How many, in your opinion, would have to die before it warranted military action? A car bomb that kills 5 innocent people? Would you need more? A chemical attack on Israel that killed 200?? Is that enough? Would you require thousands of deaths similar to the numbers on 9/11 to justify disarmament? I honestly don't know how many people, Iraqi citizens included, that Saddam's regime has murdered. I just know that it's enough. He was never going to disarm peacefully. If your opinion is different, then your opinion is just plain wrong. He has chemical and biological weapons. If your opinion is different, then just watch the news over the next week or two and watch your old pal, Saddam, prove you dead wrong again. We will never have concrete proof that this war will have prevented many more deaths brought forth by this regime. The "pre-emptive" actions of our leaders will have prevented the proof that you and those like you apparently need. And that is just fine with me.

RE: RE: Go US.

Sorry, I don't seem to remember the Civil Rights War in Alabama or Mississipi.

How did the violence there solve the civil rights issue?

There may have been some related violence, but for the nation as a whole, the civil movement was completed successfully and peacefully.

RE: RE: Go US.

So why are you guys arguing over peace and war because the past has repeatedly shown that niether completely solved all the problems of the world... Think about it... in certain circumstances peace worked better and in others, war worked just fine. there is no clear answer. The president was elected to find the best and most painless route. Granted, there may be other reasons why he picked war(maybe teh assassination atempt by hussain on george w's father), but until you find someone better to put in the white house and really prove he's ready for the job, sit back and try SUPPORTING our president...

RE: Go US.

was bush "elected"? hmmm. if those missing votes in jeb's state had turned up in time, and we relied on true popular vote to move someone into office, perhaps we wouldn't be debating war and peace and who we should be supporting in office. or whatever. it is.

You know, I think that Max Powers's objection towards "big words" pretty much says it all about Bush's most fervent supporters, don't you?
